Maybe it's just my non-confrontational style. Maybe I just settle too easily with the way things are. Maybe my life has been shit enough that I am not generally an ambitious person anymore. What do I know.
Apparently Lauren Faust herself has offered to make character design for their game to continue in some form (if I understand it right, it would not be ponies, neither OCs). It could end up being a good thing.
Either way, if you read a post on Equestria Daily that was talking about this issue, I think it's spot on.
I understand why fans would be pissed off at certain decisions from Hasbro. I mean, I could also be sad about some decisions. But... it's their franchise; they're the ones who decided to bring it up, decided who to hire to do so, and it's their property, so I understand it's fair for them to decide how to use it.
I know we're entering the "at which point is the series just Hasbro's property and not also the fans?" but I still feel it's their own thing.
I mean, imagine you're a parent and you find out some My Little Pony games being on the net that feature the characters beating each other. Well, I may not care and I may understand it's just a game, and not official at that; and you may as well. But God knows some parent would be furious because they would not even search if it was an official game or not, and may create a ruckus. Hasbro is, in a way, preventing content that does not fit in with their expected "style" from going out there. It's unofficial, so why should they allow it? If they do allow it, a thousand more could pop up and it would be madness.
I may not agree with this, since I was looking forward to playing it but... I can see why they would do it. I'm rambling, and parts of what I wrote won't make sense. Doh.
