Nero's effect on Yuffie, and the possibilities of it meaning so much more.

I'm a hardcore Yuffie fan since day one, and I must say that I've thought quite a bit about Nero's darkness affecting Yuffie. He did say that once it touches, it always takes something from the person. Yuffie looked quite terrified as soon as she got out.

What if not only did it take out some of her youthful innocence, but gave her something dark and nightmarish for the rest of her life?

I also thought about the darkness infecting her with Nero himself. A part of him at least. Slowly growing inside.

Who else survived Nero's darkness? Shelke remained in her shield. Vincent was unaffected because his Chaos was pretty much born of a similiar darkness or whatever Nero said. Yuffie was the only one we know that survived the darkness due to Vincent saving her at a critical moment.

I think it can bring on a new story, with Yuffie as the lead. Just a thought.

This is all coming from memory. I haven't played the game since it first came out, so I may be off here and there.

I always thought it'd be a good story for a game. Hell, if Vincent can have a game, so can Yuffie...ESPECIALLY if Vincent can help her overwhelm the darkness.

Yes, this really wouldn't be a bad idea. It would be simply one of the crapiest ideas in the history of Square-Soft/Enix, comparable with FFX-2.

I don't see how it's any worse than dedicating a game to a character like Vincent.

Except that FFX-2 was a shitload of fun imo.

I don't think Yuffie makes for a good lead character though. Hell, even Vincent wasn't that good of a lead.
I wouldn't mind playing as Yuffie but a whole game might be too much.

Vincent isn't the type of character to have his own game. Fans love him because he's all mysterious and broods in the background. I thought he was a thoroughly boring lead and his character often flip-flopped during the game.

As for Yuffie, yeaah she could have her own game but I could see it being a light-hearted game like FFX-2 littered with lulz animu humour and a pretentious storyline.

Turning Yuffie into an emo would be even worse than the idea of implementing Shelke as a character. She's the sunny one. FF7 does not need another person angsting about the phails of life.

I suppose she could be dealing with minor wiggy feelings in the back of her mind every now and then, to respond properly to your inquiry about how having come into contact with Nero's darkness might affect her, but given Yuffie's character I think she would be able to shake it off and deal with it considerably well. She's not the type to dwell.

Well i think the only thing Nero's attack does is well kill people but he failed to do that with Yuffie so I'm guess she's fine. If anything maybe he should her some horrible pornographic images in her mind thus corrupting her innocence

While I'm not for the idea of having Yuffie in the lead, I do think she deserves more character development. In my mind they didn't treat her respectfully in DoC and just made her into an irritating "Sailor Moon"-esque character. Even Nero reacted to her overdramatic posture and subsequently left the scene.

Case of Barret tells us she is training the kids of Wutai. Show her as a leader figure for both the kids and all of Wutai. Don't show her clumpsy side and maybe let her deal with the issues brought by Nero's darkness.
She deserves better, but a game just for her? Nope.

...Yuffie's always been a loud, obnoxious, over the top big mouth. DC didn't really change that.

And honestly, what issues does Nero's darkness have? Where does that even come from? All that happens is that you get eaten up by stagnant lifestream and die. Nero's statement of his darkness always taking something is merely a statement of how nothing escapes it once it takes hold of a target. The Japanese script didn't have the flourish; it roughly said once consumed nothing escapes.

The reason she's terrified is because she was nearly killed and consumed by the dark souls that compose the dark lifestream he keeps within him.

I just remembered something ironic. When she is kidnapped in FFVII, she is kidnapped by a ninja! An actual properly dressed ninja! Either Wutai has its traitors, or ninjas exist outside of Wutai. Somehow Don Corneo hired a REAL ninja, and we only see that character/polygon for a short moment and never see it again.

I suppose the motivation of Nero's darkness affecting her mentally is, well, the "bad thoughts" that maybe entered her mind. Sort of like when Tifa was in limbo in FFVII and voices shouted to her about terrible deeds (or so it is implied, right before she enters Cloud's mind). But it seems unlikely that her character will have to deal with accepting the darkness in people's minds (outside of KH, that is).

I liked Yuffies' unform in AC, but her DOC uniform was kinda dull. Granted, the whole game was dull, but still...

Yuffie's outfit in AC was really nice, and wasn't designed by Nomura if I recall. Then they changed her for DoC, and yeah it looked bland.

Her AC outfit was designed by a female staff member, I think.
And it did look much better, it really had some style.
However, it makes sense for her to wear something different one year later. Though I wished it would've looked a bit better. =/

Also, the others should've been given new clothes as well but I guess they couldn't be arsed to do that since they had only minor screen time in DC. That, and it was probably easier to just use the already existing AC character models.

Actually I think you guys have it backwards. Why I guess I can't say anything on the subject of her AC outfit I remember reading in an interview somewhere a while back on ACF that Nomura said that Yuffie's DoC outfit was the one designed by a female staff member.

I'm pretty sure it said in Yuffie's Reunion Files profile that her AC outfit was designed by a chick...
