I agree....but still, no Vaan. XII's kinda like VI in that you can pick from a few characters to stand as the 'main'. Ashe, if they were concerned with more heroines. Balthier would be my pick, but a gunner would be kinda tough to work in, I think.

I'm not sure how unique they could make Basch in a team of sword-wielders. I'd imagine he'd kinda play like a more powerful Warrior of Light, maybe? Guess it depends if they gave him a buckler or a two-handed sword.

If they made Balthier the main for XII, they'd have to give him more weapons than the gun. Something more dynamic. But Vaan was obviously the implied main character of XII, since he was the first person you had in your party, well scratch that. He was the one who really STARTED the party, I guess.

Vaan was more an observer main character, he was meant to take a back seat. Balthier and Ashe are more of the story centric characters. I'd love to see Balthier but having another female to the cast wouldn't be too bad. I'm not picky, as long as they add more from XII.

But seriously. Kung fu chocobos, they're happening.

Vaan was considered and quickly shot down in favor of Balthier, who was rejected since he had just been in War of the Lions, and here's Gabranth who was chosen since he also has an impact and is on the logo.

Given that Lightning's abilities are probably locked anyway now, with XIII hitting Japan later this year, I think there's a slim chance she could appear. Assuming there's any new playable characters at all.

If they don't have to be FF characters though, I say put in Riku ("evil" Riku that is), and just to be fair, balance him out with a good guy from Chrono. Who knows, maybe Riku's inclusion is what the Mystery Moogle is meant to allude to.

What I don't understand is why they insist upon releasing different versions for US and Japan... just make it the same! Don't video game companies know by now that people want the "full" experience? A lot of the time, what's changed and removed is harmless.

I still would have loved if they would've included more of the secondary characters. I'm not fond of too many of the main characters. Also it would be nice to have more choice of female characters. Basically it's what, Terra, Ultemicia and the other sorceress (can't remember her name)?

Because special edition re-releases with more content than before sell extremely well in Japan.

Shantotto from FFXI, who pwns all of them. And there's Cloud of Darkness. And don't forget Kuja. If Dissidia tells us anything, its that women are evil and should not be trusted.
