I caught enough Eevees yesterday to raise an entire team of Eeveelutions. I will be an Eevee trainer. I am so excited about this.

Probably going to stick with my current team for the story, but raise the Eevees on the side just for funzies and friend battles ^_^

Which Eeveelutions you considering getting the most use out of? I mean, obviously you can switch them in and out whenever you like, but if you're anything like me you'll end up using some far more than others. I heartily recommend Glaceon and Umbreon, myself, although Espeon is also pretty damn good (especially if it has its Hidden Ability).

Also, hoping to someday take you on in a Gym Challenge matchup, your Eeveelutions against my Dark-type strike team.

@GLD - I'm not quite sure which Eeveelutions I want to use yet. I was leaning more towards Espeon than Umbreon, but I haven't really decided. Same with Glaceon vs. Vaporeon. I had a Vaporeon in Fire Red, so maybe I'll go with Glaceon, but aaaa I don't know! Haha. I think the only one I'm not terribly interested in is the new fairy type :P

And as far as battling goes, I'd love to soon, but I've gotta level my team up quite a bit first...I battled against Force the other night and it went very poorly for me, lol. His Pokemon had higher level moves than mine, and I really didn't stand a chance!

I'm waiting for the pokebank to come out to get further into the game. I must have Clefairy on my team.

You can already get Clefairy provided you have a friend with a Clefairy safari. if you don't, GameFAQs is a great way to get FS friends, I've already gotten like at least 30 friends from there. People make entire topics devoted to exchanging friend codes for friend safari.
Addendum: Plus I have a clefairy safari, so i could trade you one.

Until the Dark-types set her on fire :awesome: Three of my main six have a decent to great Fire-type move. Also Earthquake, combined with Moxie for the best results, is Misery's (my Krookodile) bread and butter :trainermon:

Only issue with having so many Eeveelutions: too many options can't choose syndrome  Use 'em all! Take the Bruce Lee approach, train and learn all the Eevee you can, then keep that which is useful and box that which is not :awesome: Also don't knock Sylveon just yet, as is the norm for Eeveelutions little things are surprisingly capable of kicking ass. ...Well ok, Flareon still sucks, even WITH Flare Blitz, but you can't have everything :awesome:

Yeah, moveset really doesn't help in battles with disparate levels being equalized. At least until you've got a good stock of TMs and HMs to work with, and even then it can be rough until your monsters evolve sometimes. Of course, I've been training another team of newbies (most of them were freshly hatched when I started so level 1), so I'm not up to my own standards yet either... but we're already 100% super trained and level 40 or higher across the board :muhaha: So, still could be a problem. Anyway, depending on how long it takes PokeTransport and PokeBank to finally be released, I'd like to have my options more open before we battle. Be nice to have my Elite Only boxes filled up, and my Dark-type Specialist box properly filled and sorted.

I'll be a tiny bit miffed about that Cleffa I bred going to waste if she takes you up on this, but its still stuck in Unova and largely an inferior being made to breed anyway, and I hate seeing her having to wait thanks to this Bank delay.

If you're talking about doing the breeding for her, Clicky wants a Cleffa with Magic Guard (because Charm is useless!), and she would like it to be Serious natured and a defining characteristic indicative of potential with the HP stat (like Takes plenty of siestas, for instance). It'd also need a good name from some classical faerie lore, I recall she liked a few of the Scandanavian ones I looked up. If, on the other hand, you go the much less work intensive and reasonable route and just catch her one to breed herself, then the only thing that matters is Magic Guard and the HP IV indicating characteristic. :reapermon:

Shit, forgot about the Empoleon. Difficult to counter for me, Fire and Ground are obviously not the best against those thanks to their Water side, Grass gets shortchanged thanks to the Steel, and there is no such thing as a Dark/Electric dual-type... yet. Hmmm... I know Spiny at least has a Fighting-type attack, but she's probably too slow to take out an Empoleon without getting Ice Beamed to death.

Congrats Reg, you've stumped me for the moment. If I brought Tessa with her Contrary Super Power, or Katja the Scrafty and her High Jump Kicks, I'd know just what to do, but they're both on backup teams :trainermon: Either way, I applaud you.

Edit: Oh wait, Steel doesn't resist Dark anymore does it? Neutral STAB Crunch, Night Slash, and Night Daze will see me through if I play my cards right.

We'll just see about that. Ghidorah has a lot of practice setting Steel-types on fire, and she's faster than any Mawile I've ever seen. Of course she's also 4x weak to Fairy, but we'll see. Mumble may be able to take her out at that... but he'll know he was in a fight either way :awesome:

Nope! ...is it working? But seriously, glad you're branching out dude. I might be a Dark-type specialist, but every single type in the game has good monsters well worth training. Plus, when your opponent brings out a beast you're horribly vulnerable against its nice to have trained that same monster at some point for insight into its possible strategy :trainermon:

I dont know because Dragons are tough as shit to grind, and steel is so cool until a fighting type or ground type comes to wreck your balls. I shall set the necessary counterz, but my star champion may be Mumble the Empolion due to his massively unique typing as well as Nasus the Lucario because of Mega Evo and good STAB movepoolz (Aura sphere and bone crunch are sufficient enough but I wish I had metal claw to complete 3 STAB moves. :okay: )

Skarmory and Metagross say hello. Steel/Flying and Steel/Psychic can be damn handy in the face of Fighting-types, and of course Skarmory laughs at Ground-type moves. As for Lucario's STAB moves, I actually took a different approach from the norm. Mine has his two off-type attacks as physical moves (Ice Punch and Earthquake), while both STABS are special attacks (namely Aura Sphere and Flash Cannon). Lucario can, with proper training, do just fine with a mixed set like this, and Adaptability makes it even better when you go Mega with it :awesome:

The one I got from that gym leader in Y has the shittiest moveset ever. I wish to at least give Nasus a wonderful move pool but he seems to have been maxed out, and I do not have any access to Earthquake, The Elemental punches and Flash cannon. I'm building him with what this shitty gym leader can give :okayguy:.

So far my dream Iron Legion team might be:

- Eleanor/Cereza/Celty The Mawile (Steel/Fairy)
- Mumble The Empolion (Steel/Water)
- Godzilla The Aggron (Steel)
- Nasus The Lucario (Steel/Fighting)
- Dalek Sec Mk. 2 The Ferrothron (Steel/Plant)

I'm torn between acquiring Metagross or that tablet mon as he has dem psychic combo needed. Metagross family is so hard to grind unlike that tablet pokemon. And I can't find anyone who can fill the last slot for the Iron Legion.

I agree that the Lucario she gives you has a fairly crap moveset. Don't knock Power-Up Punch until you try it though, its true that its weak but the attack boost plus a bit of damage is quite useful, especially at that point in the game My Pancham used it as his main Fighting-type move until Hammer Arm came available (albeit Iron Fist does wonders for making it a better attack).

I wish to at least give Nasus a wonderful move pool but he seems to have been maxed out,

...wut? You can't max out a Pokemon's moveset. You can reach the end of its level up movelist, yes, but even then you can switch it up with heart scales, TMs/HMs, or move tutors in some regions. And Lucario doesn't learn its final move (Extreme Speed last I checked) until level... 65 :monster:

and I do not have any access to Earthquake, The Elemental punches and Flash cannon. I'm building him with what this shitty gym leader can give :okayguy:.

The Elemental Punches are difficult, yes. My Lucario got Ice Punch in Unova, where there are nice easily accessed/payed off move tutors. Flash Cannon and Earthquake are easier, but they can take a while. TM91 (Flash Cannon) is free in Kiloude Town after the Elite Four challenge, while TM26 (Earthquake) is also free to pick up on route 22. And if you demand Metal Claw to give Nasus a STAB Steel-type move, you can just give a Heart Scale to the move relearner as soon as you A.) get one and B.) get to Dendemille Town.

On that note, Heart Scales are a crap-load harder to get in Kalos than they were in Unova, but a few do still turn up to dowse for on the beaches and there's no shortage of critters with Frisk this gen. Some of them even learn Thief. Get ya one of those, fish with the crappy Old Rod, steal from Luvdisc, ????, profit!

Shaping up pretty nicely there. I can heartily approve of every monster you've listed there for a variety of reasons. Also laughing about the name you picked for the Ferrothorn, I have a Magnezone named Dalek :awesome:

...da fuck is a tablet mon? I take it from what you said that it's Steel/Psychic, are you talking about Bronzor/Bronzong? I figure its them, since all other Steel/Psychic dual-types are either members of the Beldum line or Legendary. Just not getting where you see tablet, since they're a mirror and a bell respectively :monster:

As for things being hard to grind... I don't get what you mean. Are we talking about Beldum's silly Take Down only phase? You can remedy that with TMs. Or do you mean how its in the Slow Experience group, and thus literally levels up slowly? Cause that's far less an issue this gen than previous, thanks to the Exp Share becoming the Exp All in every way but name, switch training giving all participants full shares of exp, and Pokemon with a high Pokemon-Amie bond getting boosted exp gains not unlike those that traded monsters get. Still takes a while, true, but much quicker and easier than it used to be, especially when you get your Lucky Egg.

Also, and this could almost go in the makes your day thread, my power blinked out when I was almost finished writing this post when I originally started it, hours ago. It was still there when I turned it back on just a moment ago now. Awesome.

I've traded Nasus' move for Aura Sphere. the reason he only remains in my team so far is due to his steel typing but has no actual useful steel move. I may have to replace him with SOMEONE who has a noteworthy movepool which is probably going to be Amizon to retain steel and get a new typing of ghost so as I can be rid of dual fighting typez.

Argh, you're not familiar with my terminology sorry. When I mean max out a moveset within a single pokemon, I mean to get all the mon's best offensive movesets before the others come with shitty ass moves through leveling that I dont use. I'm a very offensive type player and rarely get buffs or debuff type of moves unless its Hypnosis or a move that induces paralysis, burns, freeze or sleep. Metal sound is the shittiest move to ever incorporate in Nasus and I hope to find a worthy metal type move or else I will switch him out with Amizon and grind her like hell.

I call them tablets because the first bronzor I ever caught reminded me of my Wacom tablet or a touch screen tablet, thus I named it so. Only when it evolved did the difference occur. Tablet served well in Platinum, and I was so proud of him. Don't diss my tablet :'(

I am afraid of raising a Metagross family mon because of the take down phase and its so fucking slow to raise them (almost all mons in the previous gen I used rare candy cheatz purely because I cba to raise them normally, this applies to my dratini form and other pseudoes), and pseudoes are hard to make them reach their greatest potential even though it is so worth it later, I do not want to go do the grueling task of raising them hard like I did in RBY and HGC before my retirement in the 90's (I remember crying and begging Dragonair to evolve before the guides came up and wondering when he will become a Dragonite. I stopped at 49 before switching him out with another mon altogether because I felt it was ridiculously hard to level Dragonair. Bear with me I was 9 that time and had very little patience). I need a mon this gen that can actually strike fear into the heart of the enemy unlike past gens where I usually just leave it to myself (dragonite) and my milotic love for duo battles. Don't blame ya, I don't like having too many monsters using the same move even if its a great move. And Power-up Punch is just good, not great :monster: Though funny enough, with a few exceptions, almost every Dark-type I own knows either Crunch, Night Slash, or Dark Pulse so I dunno.

the reason he only remains in my team so far is due to his steel typing but has no actual useful steel move.

Get used to that. Outside of using a TM or spending a Heart Scale, he ain't learning any other Steel-type moves you'd want. Metal Sound is their first and only level up Steel move, aside from Metal Claw which is one of their starter moves and thus... requires Heart Scales  They do have some exceptional level up moves after Aura Sphere though, stuff like Calm Mind at level 47 to make the Sphere hit even harder, Dragon Pulse at level 60, and of course Extreme Speed at 65.

I may have to replace him with SOMEONE who has a noteworthy movepool which is probably going to be Amizon to retain steel and get a new typing of ghost so as I can be rid of dual fighting typez.

The Honedge line is well worth raising, my own is coming along nicely as a Doublade presently. And if you take this option, you can always get Nasus out of storage later on when you have a better selection of TMs and such to work with :trainermon:

Argh, you're not familiar with my terminology sorry. When I mean max out a moveset within a single pokemon, I mean to get all the mon's best offensive movesets before the others come with shitty ass moves through leveling that I dont use.

Ahhhh I get what you mean now. Well, like I said above if his level up moves aren't working for you (and I can see why they wouldn't) you can always raise another monster like Amizon and come back to him later.

I'm a very offensive type player and rarely get buffs or debuff type of moves unless its Hypnosis or a move that induces paralysis, burns, freeze or sleep.

I hear ya, I too mostly teach my monsters attacks over status moves. I prefer that they have four different attacks, one for each STAB and two or three coverage moves. I've come around some to the wonders of status moves somewhat these days though. Calm Mind + Delphox = Firey Death. Curse + Ferrothorn + Gyro Ball = WILL IT BLEND?! Good times.

Metal sound is the shittiest move to ever incorporate in Nasus and I hope to find a worthy metal type move or else I will switch him out with Amizon and grind her like hell.

Metal Sound is pretty shit, yeah. Poor Lucario, in a fair world you'd have an option for Metal Burst or naturally learn Mirror Shot at least. But no, you won't be getting him any new Steel-type attacks without TM or Scale.

Ahh ffffuck, I dont know where to teach the elemental punches on Nasus. I'm torn between using Fire, Ice or Lightning. (I may use Ice since I dont have an Ice move).

Ummm... you can't? There are no move tutors in Kalos at present, and that's the only way to teach the Elemental Punches outside of Gen I, I think. Excepting things that learn them naturally of course, like Hitmonchan. None of them even show up on the list of Riolu/Lucario's egg moves. Of course, you CAN breed them with Blaze Kick (I bred Kris one with such once). They can also get Bullet Punch that way, but without Technican to power it up its pretty weak. Of course, with its ability Mega-Lucario could still get some mileage out of it when going after Rock, Ice, and Fairy-types.

Thanks for the protips, I'll see if I can get Nasus to learn a decent move before the cartridge and the DS returns to its owner for the tradez.

Yeah, it is a bit weird. But then, Luvdisc sucks way more than Magikarp. At least the King of Karp evolves into something awesome as fuck. Luvdisc stays shit forever.

Y thankz. Ferrothorn looks like it can join the Dalek Race just easily. And I named it after my favourite Dalek in Doc Who.

If we ever tag-team together, you should bring that Ferrothorn, I'll bring my Magnezone, and together we can EXTERMINATE! ...the opposing team :awesome:

I call them tablets because the first bronzor I ever caught reminded me of my Wacom tablet or a touch screen tablet, thus I named it so.

Ahhhh ok, I gotcha. Yeah, admittedly Bronzor doesn't look as much like a mirror as it could have. I used to think it was a cogwheel

Only when it evolved did the difference occur. Tablet served well in Platinum, and I was so proud of him. Don't diss my tablet :'(

Yeah, it weirded me out when it turned into a bell too. But there are stranger things in the wide world of Pokemon. And no, I won't diss your tablet. Every OTHER Bronzor and Bronzong in the world is fair game though :Awesomonster: Seriously, I've burned, bashed, and crunched too many of those things to take them overly seriously. Especially since they're outright weak to Dark now, so you don't have to play the guessing game of "Fire or Ground?"

The Sea Spirit's Den is in the northern section of the Azure Bay: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Sea_Spirit's_Den Looks like you gotta see the bird 11 times before it pops in there (presumably to get its head down a bit after all that flying) so keep grinding until you've got a chance to snag it :awesome:
