Outside of the begining and end teaser, the rest looked fine. Nothing we haven't seen in the previous game.

Double techs pretty much confirmed, right? Fairly certain I at least saw Yuffie do a move with Red and there’s these little pips underneath the ATB bar. Might be what techs are tied to.

I wonder if the area that Barret and Red XIII are fighting the rock monster in is supposed to be more of the Mythril Mines, the Cave of the Gi, or parts of Mt. Nibel?

Yeah the pips might refer to double (or triple?) techs, to borrow the phrase from Chrono Trigger. It could also just be more ATB and double techs will use both ATBs.

Firstly, gorgeous. Looks like they're still rendering hair in the same cotton candy way, which doesn't look great with a bright backdrop, but the huge landscape is *chef's kiss*

Love seeing Midgar in the background here. The enemies here are crazy too blurry (why did they choose to include a Punisher Mode clip here? It looks so silly). But I thiiiiink these are Grand Horns.

Four characters on chocobo. Mounting and dismounting is done with R1, so on world map mode you can switch between "vehicle" mode and "foot" mode. At least in the vehicle mode, it's showing us all travelling together (wonder if Red XIII will ride a chocobo or just run?)

While on chocobo, you can *scent* and *scour* - I take this to mean that the world map will be full of secrets that your chocobo can reveal. That's incredibly exciting.

And later, presumably pre-Mythril Mines, R1 can be used to call chocobo.

(note: I could only attach 10 pics so I cut this one)

But here it goes away again as we approach Junon!

Also, there's the Highwind up there! Junon has lost it's basic triangle shape, that makes me sad.

Red XIII has "Vengeance mode"! So, like Cloud, Red XIII's triangle ability toggles different modes, presumably fast vs strong. Here, Red XIII and Barret are facing off against a boss alone, while Cloud, Tifa, and Aeris confront the Turks.

Red XIII vs Capparwire

Wolf type monster, either a Kalm Fang, Nibel Wolf, or other. This is showcasing the dual techs.

Cloud and Barret doing a dual tech against an elfadunk! It's looking so gnarly and great!

I guess that answers when/where Cloud thinks he saw Tifa dead?

But she talked to him in the OG and he moved her and stuff. It clearly wasn't too late. Awwww shit.

I mean it wasn't really clearly from his perspective, was it? It's not like he got to tend to her, he just moved her out of the way.

In the last trailer he said he saw her lying there and figured it was too late, and she said he's implying she's an imposter. Here it seems like it's narrowing that down to the reactor scene.

Of course that could just be editing misdirection... or maybe even Cloud having memories from a different timeline.

Quick theory time:

If we go frame by frame in the beginning, we can see a massive purple tornado really did hit Midgar:

I know there's a lot theories going around that the news broadcast is either Shinra propaganda or Sephiroth mind-fuckery, but I'm going to take it at face value. After all, a tornado was shown and it needs to have some consequence.

I think we can all agree that the tornado is somehow linked to the events that transpired at the end of Remake. Namely, the Whispers' defeat. So let's consider what we're shown afterwards.

Immediately after Sephiroth and Cloud's chat, we are shown a scene of Rufus meeting with the Shinra executives. Yet the news broadcast claims that Sector 0, where the Shinra Building is situated, was hit hard. Why is there no damage?

Later, in Remake and Intermission's ending, as well as in Rebirth's recent trailer, Midgar is shown in the background. Again, there is no damage to the Shinra Building.

Additionally, when Zack arrives at Aerith's church in Intermission's ending, the people are distraught and in disarray, while a haunting version of Aerith's theme plays.

Combining this all together, I'm proposing that the purple tornado didn't hit the Midgar we played through in Remake. It hit the Midgar in Zack's scenes, injuring/killing Aerith, Barret, Tifa, and Red XIII (note that Cloud is absent).

We're presented with two different versions of Stamp, and now two different events at Midgar. That points to multiple universes.

The party exited the Singularity into their own universe, the one featured throughout Remake and Intermission. However, their actions affected another, the universe where Zack's survival takes place.

I saw that too. The airship runway is closer to the player as you enter Junon so I'm hoping that it's a perspective thing and they expanded the area between the runway and Junon itself.

Seems one timeline is confirmed. The alternate party (except Cloud) all died escaping Midgar, and OUR party takes their places. The people in the church are mourning their version of Aerith lol.

I like it. They just need a reason to be in the tornado's path. If the timeframe was bombing mission then Red is in HQ, Tifa could plausibly have gone on the mission, and Aerith was in Sector 1 instead of 8 because... butterfly effect (which could also explain everything I guess).
