First of all I have generally good idea of the game's script, having talked to almost all NPCs and seen almost every scenario, so I can always find that spot in the game. Second, I sometimes take snapshots of interesting/funny quotes, which was the case with the mako maintenance quote.

We never get the impression in-battle that Rufus was considerably hurt. Just like with Reno; we only learn the fight on the pillar gave him injuries when Rude mentions it in the Mythril Mine.
The gossip guy's line is also interesting in contrast to Aeris's well-known line (though I recall hearing something about it being badly translated, I dunno)

Wow. Thank you for that. Geez... makes me wish even more for a retranslated script.
It's baffling to me, Square is a multimillion dollar company... and I assume FF7 was several million dollars to make (not even considering the later Compilation)... and they do a really shoddy job translating it. They don't even learn their lesson with later titles, either.
And not only is it a faulty translation, but I'm seeing now that a lot of the errors are in lines that are crucial to the storyline, ex: Tseng's fate, or how the Ancients traveled.
Square needs an English proofreader or better American beta testers to make sure things make sense and are spelled right. XD

Those're awesome. I'll add them up immediately.
Also - something interesting to not about his tail - I think that it might tie in to how Gi Nattak uses the Soul Fires to possess people. The Soul Fires might actually be capable of somehow extending the life of the beings that they inhabit - thus Nanaki's species long life span, and the GI managing to remain essentially undead. (obviously theory crafting for some ideas here). I'll add all the quotes up.
Does Hojo mention anything interesting about Nanaki's species aside from the fact that he's trying to combine ti with the Aerith to have a longer living sample to study (still one of the most odd things in all of FFVII imo)

I just arrived in Midgar eight days go. Yesterday, all of Nibelheim got together to welcome me. The only person that we couldn’t get a hold of was Cloud. But everyone said he wasn’t really that close to us. So even if we asked, he probably wouldn’t have come anyway. Well, enough about him.
Midgar is really something. But to tell the truth, I feel so behind on everything…so out of it. Even the rooms of people in the slums are clean. Right now I’m living in the Slums, but I plan to move to a really nice room like the ones I’ve seen in magazines once I get some money. But, to do that, I guess I have to find a job first.
That’s right, I still haven’t found a job yet. I lied to my parents and told them I found a great job with Shinra Inc. I wonder if it’s too late to go back. Sometimes I think I should have taken over my parents’ store. I just made it here to Midgar, but all I think about is Nibelheim. Hey, Tifa, is that stupid old water tower still working? Is the old man at the Inn doing well? Are my parents still at the shop everyday? Have any monsters attacked? And most of all…how are you, Tifa?
It feels like I haven’t seen you for years. We were all talking about you last night. Everyone likes you. But because everyone idolizes you, I couldn’t very well stab them in the back. I always acted cool, but actually, I was just afraid of being jilted. Wow, if I keep writing like this, this’ll become a love letter. So, I think I’ll stop here. Take care. I’ll write again.

Has anyone ever wondered why President Shinra uses the phrase 'you must be the one who quit SOLDIER and joined AVALANCHE'? It's quite clearly wrong as Cloud was never in SOLDIER. Pisses me off every time.

This line is interesting because I missed it for years and years, but it makes the final scene much less of a surprise. Talk to Red XIII at some point on the Highwind.

Hey Shademp, I have a challenge for you.
In Mideel, on disc 2, when you play as Cid and find the rusty, old key, there's a door in one of the shops and if you try to open it, the key won't work, and he'll discover the door doesn't lead to anywhere. Then the shopkeeper will say something.
Can you find that line of dialogue please? It's rather...interesting.
