Title: Let Your Mind Wander

This title is an in-joke with myself as I made this one in class while we were watching a documentary on Steve Jobs.

First in a series based on ideas/concepts/people from The Elder Scrolls series of games.

"My Lord Jyggalag is partial to their lack of creativity and independence."

^^As good as I am at getting my computer to make good looking stuff, I myself cannot. I've got really bad hand-eye coordination, so my drawing skills are pretty non-existent.

More Elder Scrolls.

"Too much beauty... I am half blind.
I see flowers and waterfalls, majestic trees,
a city of silver, but it is all a blur.
The colors run like water.
It's raining now, and the wind smells like perfume.
This surely is Moonshadow, where Azura dwells."

More Elder Scrolls. Malacath is the Deadric Prince of the outcast, ostracized, sworn oaths and curses.

"I can see from one end of the world to the other in a million shades of gray.
There is no sky or ground or air, only particles, floating, falling, whirling about me."
-- Morian Zenas, The Doors of Oblivion

I like this last one very much. Symmetrical sorts of patterns sometimes make me go cross-eyed (especially window blinds for some reason, and the cross-hatch pattern on my cubicle wall at work), so I really enjoy the randomness of it. It also sort of reminded me of Sprites' galaxy nail art that she recently did. :]

Something different this time. Other then being typography, this is a piece of literature called a six word story. It's a story that has only six words not including the title. You can find out more about them here: http://sixwordstories.deviantart.com/

Back to Elder Scroll fractals again. Hermaeus Mora is the Deadric Prince of knowledge (especially forbidden knowledge) and fate. He also looks like tentacled... thing... out of H. P. Lovecraft's work.

"...an endless library, shelves stretching on in every direction stacks on top of stacks.
Pages floated on a mystical wind that he could not feel.
Every book had a black cover with no title.
He could see no one, but felt the presence of ghosts moving through the stacks,
rifling through books, ever searching. It was Apocrypha.
The home of Hermaeus-Mora, where all forbidden knowledge can be found."

My head was surprisingly cooperative this week. Mehrunes Dagon is the big bad in the 4th Elder Scrolls game. Generally associated with natural disasters and trying to take over the mortal realm.

"Mehrunes Dagon, whose sphere is Destruction, Change, Revolution, Energy, and Ambition."

This one was a hard one to conceptualize. Molag Bal is the Deadric Prince of rape, defilement, oppression, etc. He's one of the few Deadric Princes that is considered morally evil and is responsible for the creation of vampires. In TES Online, he's trying to pull the mortal realm into his own realm. I wanted to get across the idea of confining something, as well as taking something apart with this one.

"Molag Bal, whose sphere is the wanton oppression and entrapment of mortal souls"
--Mabei Aywenil, Opusculus Lamae Bal ta Mezzamortie

"Molag Bal enslaves. Molag Bal defiles. Molag Bal spawns children with the unwilling and harvests the souls of the unwary."
--The Spawn of Molag Bal

So the last TES fractal took a few weeks to do, this one took a few hours... go figure... This one was taken straight out of the psychedelic era.

"Sanguine, whose sphere is hedonistic revelry and debauchery,
and passionate indulgences of darker natures."
--The Book of Deadra

I like the contrast of the big wave patterns with the small, pink thing to the lower left (though fairly close to the centre). It feels like a traveller or a spaceship entering a larger world. Or a lone mind taking in all the colors after having taken some psychedelic drug.

I was definitely going for the last one considering Sanguine's quest in Skyrim revolves around the PC getting into a drinking contest with him and having to go back and fix what they did while drunk. Actually, the spaceship one fits in well too if you look at it from a certain angle.

Finally got to finishing this one up. Mephala is known as the Prince of Plots and is constantly meddling in everyone's affairs.

"Mephala, whose sphere is obscured to mortals; known by the names Webspinner, Spinner, and Spider; whose only consistent theme seems to be interference in the affairs of mortals for her amusement."

Finally got back into this...

Meridia (Merid-Nunda) is the Deadric Prince of living energy and is associated with light. She's also hates necromancy/undead and is considered to be one of the better Deadric Princes as she's pretty active against the clearly evil Deadric Princes. She's one of the major powers in Elder Scrolls Online where she directly opposes Molag Bal's takeover.

"Merid-Nunda formed of her substance a great drag-lens, and the light of Magnus was bent thereby. The rays carved/focused a new sphere from the chaos, which Merid-Nunda, laughing/sparkling, did claim for her own... ..."… thus does Merid-Nunda ride/slide across the rainbow road from end to end, at one end stretching the dragon, at the other end compressing him …"

So it turns out gaming is really bad for my making my own art. On the other hand, it's really go for pressing my mental reset button when I don't have a clue about what art to produce...

Hircine is the Deadric Prince of the hunt, which in The Elder Scrolls universe don't just include beings that hunt, but also beings that are hunted. He's also the power that introduced all kinds of were-beasts in the Elder Scrolls as while they can hunt better then just about everything (mortal anyway), they're also hunted by a lot of other things as well, especially mortals. The dimentions of this one are 1920x1080, so it can be used as wallpaper on hi-def screens. Link to dA.

"Hircine, whose sphere is the Hunt, the Sport of Daedra, the Great Game, the Chase, known as the Huntsman and the Father of Manbeasts."
--The Book of Daedra

Something different this time. One of my school assignments was to take a profile picture of myself for an assignment. I ended up doing a minimalist line version of it in Inkscape (think Adobe Illustrator, but free and with better vector controls).

This was an interesting one logistically, as after I finished rendering it, I did a bunch of post work in GIMP to get the color/opacity to be consistent throughout the whole image, as well as recolor parts of it.

Clavicus Vile is the Deadric Prince of attaining power though pacts, rituals, and deals. As far ad Deadric Princes go, he's pretty transparent about his motives and at what he gets out of the deal (which is usually people's souls). After all, it's not his fault mortals are so power hungry that they're willing to trade them... He's also one of the few princes who is actually capable of losing graciously to mortals if the mortal in question really does live up to their end of the bargain...

"...I watch mortals, and meddle now and then, purely for entertainment."
--Clavicus Vile, Redguard

"Clavicus Vile, whose sphere is the granting of power and wishes through ritual invocations and pact."
--The Book of Deadra

Finally got back into these...

Boethiah is the Deadric Prince of unlawful overthrow of authority, conspiracy, murder, assassination, treason, strength, etc. Ironically, they're also the Deadric Prince that along with Mephala and Azura is worshiped by the Dunmer for showing them what the Aedra were actually up to when they created Nirn which ultimately lead to the Dunmer leaving for Morrowind. For the Dunmer, Boethiah is the Deadric Prince who showed them how to defend themselves from everyone else, and actively makes sure that their skills stay sharp. He/she is also in direct opposition to Molog Bal, as while Molog Bal wants to be the strongest, Boethiah appreciates strength of any type. He/she prefers mortals who prove that they're strong, by any number of methods.

"Boethiah waits to receive the worthy. He pays no heed to mewling praise and prayers or cries for aid and mercy from his faithful. He delights in the blood of the overthrown, the betrayed and conquered and murdered...

...She relishes each victory, shivers with euphoria at each moment of resolution, and grants her favor to the strong. If you would be among her champions, if you would destroy everything in your own true path, you will join the endless struggle and bring strife and discord where you tread. Only in this way will you prepare for the greater battle that waits beyond."
