It's interesting that
only some of the characters have memories. It seems that Avalanche don't even remember that Aerith died, yet she and Sephiroth do.

Didn't think this game would ever be released world wide. And I'm hoping for the English voice acting too and all of the english cast return to reprise their roles!

Looking forward in hearing Yuffie(either her Advent Children and KH1 actress or Dirge of Cerberus and KH2 actress, I don't mind which one since I like them both) and Vincent(please come back, Steven Blum!) and especially Zack again!

Still wish Reno was in Dissidia, though. I'd love to hear Quinton Flynn reprise his role as him.

I really doubt a stage actress like Romano is going to take the time to fly to Texas or LA (Not sure where Square's studio is) to record a bunch of one-off lines. None of the celebrity actors besides Burton and Cook have ever returned for their roles, likely because those are consistant paychecks.

It's easier just to bring in VA regulars.

Well, the last time Steven Blum voiced Vincent was in Dirge of Cerberus 12 years ago and he still voices Final Fantasy characters today, so there might be a slight off chance of him returning as Vincent for Omina.

For example; Blum voiced Cid in Type-0 HD, and voiced Verstael in FFXV. Unless he already retired or has a sore throat or something like that, I think he'll return.

And like I said regards to Yuffie, either Romano or Whitman, as long it's one of them, I'm happy. And if Romano can't make it, then Whitman is the next best actress to reprise her role as Yuffie.

Blum is a voice actor by trade though, is kinda my point. So his entire life is about getting to recording studios to do his work. He was actually one of the better known gets for Square as far as VA elite go.

Romano on the otherhand, largely devoted herself to broadway post Disney. So far as I know, she's still in NYC mebbe? Longshot away from anywhere Square might be recording.

As I said, I don't mind Whitman taking over since she's very cool as Yuffie too. Out of all characters in everything that I love, Yuffie's the only one that has two that I actually really like, so depending on which one of them can't voice her, the other would take over, right?

Buuut, if both can't do it, then that's real bummer, but nothing any of us can do about it.

And if Blum's still working for Square, then maybe there's a chance of him returning as Vincent after twelve years....I said maybe.

His most recent job for Square was Verstael Besithia in Episode Prompto, so he's still working with them on good terms. And Square so far has done it's best to retain voice actors wherever possible for the sake of continuity. And like I said, Blum is an A list voice actor, and his career.

Whitman has had a very eclectic career, but still focuses on voice acting, and likely would have no problem doing what probably amounts to a day or two of work at most, given that Opera Omnia characters don't even have their entire lines read, due to the size management of a mobile game.

This is what voice actors do, I'm sure they know how to handle a paycheck job when one comes around, especially when it comes to dealing with a high profile game company job.

I know that. This is also most likely because it's his favorite part of his career. That's what I think at least.

A little change of pace for a moment-James Wood is a good example for Disney regards to his role as Hades and would happily voice the character at given chance.

Back with main subject-even though I have a bit of doubt, it would be awesome to hear Blum as Vincent again. No one so far can even come close. He did a very cool job as Cid in Type-0 HD and when I first heard him as Versteal in both FFXV and Episode Prompto, I was shocked to hear that it was entirely different compared to what I'm used to.

Most voice actors have that talent to change the tones of different characters and voices in certain parts of anything.

Whitman has had a very eclectic career, but still focuses on voice acting, and likely would have no problem doing what probably amounts to a day or two of work at most, given that Opera Omnia characters don't even have their entire lines read, due to the size management of a mobile game.

Not sure if you know of this, but her first time in acting as I remember was in the first Indepedence Day-She played the daughter of the President, though she didn't return to reprise her role in the sequel and what you said pretty much confirmed from what I had thought of for years.

Whitman since then as I recall did her job at both Disney(The Jungle Book 2) and Square(both KH2 and Dirge of Cerberus).

As for the characters not having their lines spoken out and entire lines read, as you said due to being a mobile game(I'm surprised even mobile games have voice acting now these days), despite these games being for PS3 and PS4, Final Fantasy XIV, A Realm Reborn and it's DLC(Heavensward and Stormblood) have that same management.

This is what voice actors do, I'm sure they know how to handle a paycheck job when one comes around, especially when it comes to dealing with a high profile game company job.

Guess the best thing to do is wait and see what happens.

So
the distortions are what causes black outs in their memory.
It’s a nice touch how Zack and Cloud reunite in the rainy wastelands, mirroring Zack’s death.

It’s just been dated for January 30th, same day as the ps4 version. Squall and Vanille should be our first events, going by the japanese version.

The global site is now open, and it lists Squall, Vanille and Setzer already. They must be readily available at launch.
https://dissidiaoperaomnia.com/home/

From the FF wiki, it turns out there are 2 different types of events, permanent ones and temporary ones. Those 3 are permanent along with:

Faris
Sabin
Eiko
Tidus
Seymour
Prishe
Balthier
Ramza
Ace

Which would explain why these guys appear in the main chapter and other events, as I've never seen an event character reappear in another story line.

There's also another live stream on tuesday for the 1 year anniversary in japan.

Anyone downloaded this yet? The voices ARE in japanese, but there is an option to turn them off. I'm having fun with it, but there's no events going at the moment. It works very similar to FFRK in how you pull for weapons and upgrade them, but they only offer affinity bonuses to stats rather than special abilities, Zidane's mage mashers are powerful on him, but not as strong on Rem for example. If you want to backup your data you need to use facebook, or fill out a lost account form. There's no option for game center or google play.

Anyway the JP livestream revealed Noctis for an event this month:

I'm not really fond of the gameplay. The "You get XX abilities per character" thing they introduced in RK eventually just kinda turned me off after I started getting too many abilities and not remotely enough slots to use them.

I might poke at the game during summer vacation maybe, but I just don't have the time for something like this with a backlog of more fully fleshed out games I'm ignoring.

I played it yesterday, it's cute. None of these mobile games ever hold my interest for especially long, but i enjoy seeing everyone in different art styles. Also any game that starts me out with a team of Tifa, Vivi, and Sazh can't be all bad :monster:

I was a massive fan of Record Keeper but eventually got far too annoyed at the low success rate for draws, alongside the fact that so many new abilities and character enhancements were tied to it, and the massive daily grind.

I'm just playing through the tutorial levels, but so far, I'm really liking this game. It has a nice art style and I LOVE the fact that draws seem to only be about enhancements to abilities that you already possess and not something that you don't currently have. Hopefully that trend continues the further I get into the game.

The turn-based battles with the BRV and HP mechanic reminds me a little of both XIII and Bravely Default in some ways.

I'm not sure if I have the time to invest in this at the moment, but will definitely give it a try.

Just in case anyone is interested, I've quickly jotted down the english text from the game concerning VII character interactions from Chapter 1.

SAZH: Nasty bats nearly had us back there. Dodge every attack you throw at ‘em.
MOG: That’s why we need as many allies as possible, kupo!
VIVI: Look – there’s someone over there!
- SPOTS TIFA –
TIFA: Who’s there!?
MOG: P-please, kupo! Lower your fists! We mean you no harm!
TIFA: … You don’t appear to be dangerous.
SAZH: We’re not, but I wouldn’t blame you if you turned and ran the other way. Just look at us – a talking moogle, a knight…
TIFA: You, on the other hand, seem fairly … normal. What is this place?
WARRIOR OF LIGHT: While I cannot answer that with any certainty, what I can tell you is that none of us are natives of this land.
TIFA: You mean … this isn’t my world?
SAZH: No, it isn’t. It’s dangerous for a little lady like you to be wandering this place alone.
TIFA: I’m not alone. My friends are here, too. We got separated earlier. I’ve been searching for them, but I keep running into monsters.
MOG: Kupo … Up until recently, our land was a peaceful one. It was only after the Torsions started to appear that the beasts began terrorizing us. But I have hope that tranquillity will soon be restored by the light, kupo!
WARRIOR OF LIGHT: Perhaps she too possesses the light.
TIFA: … I do?
MOG: Yes! Yes, indeed, kupo!
VIVI: Maybe you can join us, miss?
TIFA: Hm … Yes, maybe I should. Perhaps then I’ll finally be able to find my friends. I’m Tifa. I look forward to working with you.
MOG: Welcome aboard, kupo! You look like you can take out more than a few skeletons with those fists! This is fantastic, kupo! Once again our numbers have grown and soon we’ll be closing Torsions faster than ever before!

WARRIOR OF LIGHT: Caution, friends. Someone is nearby.
TIFA: Wait! That’s …
- RUNS TO CLOUD –
TIFA: Cloud!
CLOUD: Tifa?
TIFA: Thank goodness it’s you! I’ve been looking all over for you!
MOG: You know him, kupo? Well, that makes my job easier! Hello, Mr. Spiky-Head!
CLOUD: A moogle that can talk?
TIFA: Well, the world we’re in right now is -
WARRIOR OF LIGHT: Now is not the time. It seems we have company.
CLOUD: Stand back. I’ve got this.
TIFA: Cloud! You’re not alone anymore! Let us help you.
MOG: Why won’t anyone listen to me, kupo?

WARRIOR OF LIGHT: You were quick to defeat those enemies. I’m impressed.
TIFA: Cloud, what you’re doing is reckless! You don’t know anything about this world … so let’s stick together, okay?
MOG: She’s right, kupo! Besides, you possess the will of the light. We can save this world together.
CLOUD: Not interested.
MOG: Kupo!?
SAZH: Looks like other worlds also have their fair share of strongheaded soldiers who take on way too much alone. Cloud, was it? What’s your game plan?
CLOUD: There’s someone I need to settle things with.
SAZH: And do you have any idea where this someone is? Sure you don’t need any help? This moogle’s the only one who knows anything about this world. Besides, what’ve you gotta lose?
- CLOUD CONSIDERS HIS WORDS -
CLOUD: Maybe you’re right. All right, I’ll go with you. Just don’t get in my way.
SAZH: We won’t. We’re on your side.
MOG: Then it’s settled! Great having you aboard, kupo!
TIFA: Looks like it’s you and me again!
MOG: The more the merrier! You can never have too many friends, kupo!

Not surprised. Disappointed for the no English voices, but not surprised. Think I'll just use the turn the voice off optain and pretend the voices are in English. But that's just me.

At least this game's story's still heaps better than XIII and also a bit better than XV, and the character styles heaps better than in Bravely Default.

Just wish the Kingdom Hearts X/Unchained X/Union X had this game's style instead of what it has now.
