It is worthwhile to place both Tifa and Cid in your party when you attempt this to view a hilarious extra scene.

Remember the hidden baby chocobo nest you can climb up to when you are hoofing it to Barret's hometown?

Bring Barrett when you go up there. Babies and cute things make this huge, angry black man melt into an absolute puddle.

I believe the dialogue was something like, "Haaaaaey! Baaeby!" over and over.

ETA: Come to think of it, that scene brings a lot of silly dialogue from the other characters. It's a shame you don't have Vincent or Cid already...

This reminds me of another Cid-related scene, and it's one I've always missed in my earlier playthroughs. Bring anyone you want to the "comedian's" house in Rocket Town during the Huge Materia quest there [it's the house on the right, next to Cid's]. Make sure Cid is one of the people in your party [which is likely for many of you here, seeing how you know he'll join your party regardless as you approach the actual rocket].

The comedian will boast of his latest joke, where Cloud and the other member will make a comment about his terrible humour (it's even in brackets, as a whisper to each other). But not Cid. No, not our Cid. Cid will actually
kick the comedian :monster:

I wonder if you could bypass this the first time and come back with Cid and Vincent later?

(unfortunately I have nothing constructive to add to this thread otherwise. Everything here is awesome tho :desu: )

Another favorite variation of mine is how Reno's script changes if you meet him in Gongaga only AFTER the Wutai stolen-materia sidequest.

Reno's script before the Wutai sidequest:
Reno
“Payback time for what you did in Sector 7.”
A: Sector 7?
B: Out of our way

A:
Reno
“That’s sad.”

B:
Reno
“I don’t like being taken for a fool.”

Reno's script after the Wutai sidequest:
Reno
“This is just part of the job.
Don’t take it personally.”

The full thing with the dialogue options is skipped in this alternate scenario.

Because I didn't see any options in that script I follow, I've decided to test it out. I'm past that part without going up to the birds (because you can't return even if you leave the treasure), and I'm going to be going to Rocket Town next (which I'll probably be free to play on Tuesday). I'll report back!

Facts about the field from checking Makou Reactor:

- It does not include the field models for Cait Sith and Vincent
- Cid's model is included but only because he can be the party leader at one point. He doesn't actually have any script/lines in this field, same for Cait and Vincent.
- The scene with the baby chocobos is only available when the GameMoment (or Plot Progression Value) is equal to or less than 427. I don't know the exact moment when the GameMoment reaches this value, but the GameMoment value is exactly 457 when you meet Dyne in the Corel Desert. Ergo, no textual scene will be triggered and you can't get any Phoenix Down treasure. All that will happen is that you visit the chocobo field and then leave it immediately.

Solid! Thank you.

I love exploring the game, but the thoughts of backtracking...:awesomonster:

How unfortunate. :monster: Thank you!

If you bring Red XIII with you to the Temple of the Ancients, he has one line where he acts like a stereotypical dog immediately after using the Keystone. Nevermind the fact that he's actually comparing it to Cosmo Canyon, it's still pretty comical taken out of context.

Red XIII:
"...sniff...sniff...
This place smells good."
