^^You might as well start now. It looks like they're cycling Gen III pokemon availability so if you wait, some pokemon available now won't be available later...

I think that Feebas was even available for a little while as I've seen trainers with it, which must mean Milotic was available at one point too.

He's talking about the meta style that most trainers off the game have, as well as the capability of one pokemon to sweep the shit off an entire team. I heard tales of a Magikarp capable of doing this feat with flail alone.

The meta-game is a lot more complex than battling NPC trainers in the main game Force. I mean, even the big bad trainers like the Elite Four and Champions can be beaten fairly easily with no more preparation than having some levels and a working knowledge of type advantage. Human players take it substantially farther.

I didn't understand a word of that

Pokemon, especially after Gen 5, is like playing 2 games of chess while trying to count cards at a black jack table at the same time lol.

Essentially though to clarify my post :

Sweep = A pokemon that can take on a players entire team and basically 1 hit each of there pokemon. (Lucario sorta, Blaziken, any dragon for the most part , ect.)

Wall = A pokemon with excellent defensive stats and skills that your enemy can not kill. Generally a Wall will also use spells like like Wish, leech seed, drain punch ect. to further annoy the enemy trainer by healing regularly. Pokemon like Umbreon, Ludicolo, scrafty and Breloom do this very well.

Check = A pokemon that is somewhat like a counter but more specific to a certain type of pokemon and may not be so easy to switch in efficiently.

Counter = Just a broad term for pokemon that can counter multiple types. Ie like switching in an ice/water spammer for a dragon/fire team ect.

The reason why getting all 3 starters in this generation is sort of a facepalm move is because there not all that great and even npc trainers can sometimes easily drop some of them. Especially charizard which is almost universally known as the worst starter ever made and is the sole reason why almost every Fire starter has been an uber afterwards as compensation.
Ivysaur and Blastoise have some redeeming qualities if played well but over all theres several pokemon the wild that can be caught in moments that are leagues better then all 3 starters :monster:

The meta-game tends to forget the wisdom of my fellow Dark-type Master, Karen of the Elite Four.

Karen said:
"Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled trainers should try to win with their favorites.

She's only half right, there definitely are weak Pokemon (I'm looking at you Unown, Skiploom, etc) but people should still be kinder when folks try to play with Pokemon that aren't necessarily the best :trainermon:

Only PokeMMO is barely into Gen III and they're aren't any lengdaries... so they're meta is a lot different from Smogen's.

I'm sure a lot of the strategies are the same ones thrown around in other competitive scenes. I bet even as we type at each other, someone is attempting the SkarmBliss Lockdown :awesome:

Only a few legendaries are uber :monster:
Not to mention Smogon has been covering most games meta's soooo...

edit:
GLD yep, I found a few skarmbliss teams the other day.

Im kinda hoping Pokemmo takes it time getting into Gen5, Im not a huge fan of the ferrothorn over use or the Jellithorn teams xD

You can hardly blame them though, they go so well together do Jellicent and Ferrothorn. Its like they were made to double battle together.

Well no wonder they want it so bad. When you're playing solo through the main adventure of most main series games, Adamant Scizor = Win Button :monster: Damn handy critters to have on hand.

I think you need to beat the elite 4 to go on to the next region.
Not there yet though.

And yeah about my current noob team, I'm just having fun with random pokemon as I progress through the story; obviously not going to use any of the 1st gen starters if I do endgame PvP or something :monster:

Okay, I have finally created my own character and I'm on my way to become the greatest Pokémon master! :D So far I've captured four Pokémon and lost twice to my rival... >_>

My character's name is Chokuro, so if anyone wants to add me, feel free to. :)
