I didn't understand a word of that

Pokemon, especially after Gen 5, is like playing 2 games of chess while trying to count cards at a black jack table at the same time lol.
Essentially though to clarify my post :
Sweep = A pokemon that can take on a players entire team and basically 1 hit each of there pokemon. (Lucario sorta, Blaziken, any dragon for the most part , ect.)
Wall = A pokemon with excellent defensive stats and skills that your enemy can not kill. Generally a Wall will also use spells like like Wish, leech seed, drain punch ect. to further annoy the enemy trainer by healing regularly. Pokemon like Umbreon, Ludicolo, scrafty and Breloom do this very well.
Check = A pokemon that is somewhat like a counter but more specific to a certain type of pokemon and may not be so easy to switch in efficiently.
Counter = Just a broad term for pokemon that can counter multiple types. Ie like switching in an ice/water spammer for a dragon/fire team ect.
The reason why getting all 3 starters in this generation is sort of a facepalm move is because there not all that great and even npc trainers can sometimes easily drop some of them. Especially charizard which is almost universally known as the worst starter ever made and is the sole reason why almost every Fire starter has been an uber afterwards as compensation.
Ivysaur and Blastoise have some redeeming qualities if played well but over all theres several pokemon the wild that can be caught in moments that are leagues better then all 3 starters
