Wow, uh, just all kinds of wow. "A new story" -- just putting it right on out there, aren't they?

And you go girl, Jessie. That's awesome.

In light of Nomura's surprised acknowledgement of her warm reception, I now definitely expect
we haven't seen the last of her. They almost certainly will find a way to include her in some capacity in one of the next installments. If not alive in the present, then at least featuring prominently in a spin-off, DLC, or something.

Gematsu translated parts of the interview that I didn't see mentioned elsewhere, and this part caught my eye:
Sound Director Makoto Ise said:
Doing the voice work for several languages at once (for a worldwide simultaneous release) was hell in the final stages of development. Between us, we just made it before the deadline.
I have no idea when they plan to start recording dubs for part 2, but if there are still Covid complications, their job is only going to get harder. I hope that isn't the case.

Trying desperately to not step on that particular landmine, but I would hope they don't make plot changes/alterations (for any character) based purely on popularity.

Well, well, looks like Nomura was actually the one who was the limiting factor in keeping even more changes from being added. Feels like even more evidence that people are unfairly assigning him the majority “blame” for things the don’t like in the Remake instead of Kitase and/or Nojima and others.

Well color me surprised Jessie ranked that high. I'm shocked Sephiroth was so low!
can I have my play arts now?

I was sick of him taking all the blame a long time ago, yeah he's hot eccentric habits and had made many questionable decisions elsewhere, but he's not stupid. He knows what this game means to people. On top of that, he's not the friggen writer anyway, that's Nojima.

This! But ngl Nomura being the reasonable one in the room worries me lol

By the way people spoke of him online, I thought Nomura had an incredible amount of talent taking on the roles of director, writer, artist, producer, programmer, beta tester, level designer, voice actor, and being the musician for FFVIIR. I don't know too many people who can do all that in a game, let alone a AAA production.

I agree, but I get the feeling they left some loose ends specifically to see how reception panned out before making final decisions. There's a reason so many elements of the ending were vague.

So based on the latests interviews... this game is a faithful remake that recreates the og best moments but its also a new story.

Now I feel enlightened /s

I want to know what percentage of the story is old/new, it will be a good indicator on how much of it will suck ass.

Kitase: "I'm sure there are people who wish to experience the exact same story and relive memories. However, if we were to do that, then all we would be doing is just adding to the original experience, which would cause the Remake to lose its significance."

So it seems that the changes they plan to make going forward may not be merely additive but be more involved and widespread than some might think, with the OG becoming less and less reliable as a guide for what to expect as the series goes on. And in response to Force's comment, I would think and hope that any plot changes/adjustments they make for certain characters would be done with care and not simply for popularity's sake - though that's bound to be a factor as well.

And it's great to see Jessie made #4, and in an official poll, no less! Beat out all the pretty boys (except Cloud, of course) - Sephiroth, Reno, Rufus, and even Zack. Just wish the gap between her and Aerith would've been smaller. But it's still a good accomplishment.
