Square's Japanese YT account had a stream for future products earlier on seemingly, where the PAK prototypes were shown off - interestingly they were quite happy to show off what appears to be Yuffie's entire costume under the cloak.

Doesn't confirm whether or not it's actually removable (they seemingly didn't specify in the stream), but it's nice that they didn't half-arse it at least.

It's not removable, but it's detailed to show what's underneath. That's not really new.

They did the same thing with Vincent and his PAK. His cloak certainly doesn't come off but it's manufactured with the detail of his outfit beneath the cloak. You can lift it and see whats under but you'd be breaking the figure if you tried to cast him off :monster:

I seriously doubt Yuffie's cloak is going to be removable.

... I wanted one until I saw the $124 CAD pricing :(
Unfortunately, the pre-orders are already closed, but Japanese anime stores that offer direct international shipping are all quite reliable for getting (most) goods that are also on Square-Enix's Japanese store. They also usually arrive earlier, because stuff on S-E NA store releases later than their JP store (I assume due to fulfillment).

These stores ship to you directly from Japan when stuff comes out. But the price of shipping is a big unknown, and it's not really possible to tell you how much it is until you see the weight and pick a shipping service. On the plus side, these websites will bundle everything you order that comes out in the same month and send it to you all at once, so it is a bit less terrifying if you buy multiple things that happen to come out the same month.

Wow.

So I got the Remake Aerith PAK for a great deal and, I'm actually genuinely impressed.

This PAK is incredible. Sturdy, yet flexible. Excellent paint job, great expressions, and it appropriately captures Aerith's Remake appearance. Leagues above the Crisis Core PAK of her, but that's not really surprising. But yeah, this one is a banger. I'm glad I pulled the trigger and got this when I saw it.

Going around and comparing prices and release dates is always "fun".

https://www.amiami.com/eng/detail/?gcode=FIGURE-127979
Nov release, 12980 yen ($118 usd)

https://www.hlj.com/final-fantasy-vii-remake-play-arts-kai-rufus-shinra-enx35431
Nov release, $134.55 usd

https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10790457
Nov release, 12580 yen ($114 usd)

https://www.play-asia.com/final-fantasy-vii-remake-play-arts-kai-rufus-shinra/13/70elf1
Nov 30 release, $135.99 usd

These prices are all before shipping from Asia. Assuming you live in the US and use DHL (private shipping company), that's probably going to be another $20 - $30, and it'll get there in 3-4 business days. There is also typically not any import tax on these items because it's stuff like "pvc figure".

Meanwhile...

Jan 22 release, $154.99, and this price is without tax and before shipping
You're probably looking at $180 - $190 after local US sales tax and s/h

:desucait: Love paying more to get stuff later.

Yeah, you really gotta look at what you're getting from the S-E store, because you'll get hosed bad if you trust them to give you a deal.

Like I said, unless it's an exclusive variant to the store, some promotional sale, or preorder bonus, you might as well just skip and shop elsewhere.

Their exclusives can be worth it though. The Bring Arts for 2P from NieR and FFXIV is a great example. I also was able to score the very last stock of the NieR Replicant Bring Arts of Nier and Emil from there too, for far less than what they go for on the secondary market. Sometimes its worth looking there but for standard releases that are recent? Always shop around.
