It's safe to say that this comes as no surprise if this is indeed true, given the fact that it's fallen way behind the PS4 and XBone in terms of sales, lack of third party support (a problem Nintendo has faced pretty much since the N64), and the NX under development. It's a shame because I was planning on buying one soon, mainly for the First Party shit (especially Mario Maker, which I had been watching on Twitch quite often over the last 4 months).

Yes, yes, now tank the price so I can get one for Twilight Princess HD

I'm conflicted about this. I still have a functioning Wii. And other than Mario Maker I dunno what games are worth getting for the Wii U. But I still want one .

Well this sucks. Just as the latest Pokemon console game was coming out this month. Wii U didn't last long.

Which means the new Legend of Zelda game, like FFXV, will have to be transfered to another new console, and it'll be delayed for another year(Not surprising considering how long they're taking with the game).

I knew the new Zelda game wasn't coming out this year either. It's a repeat of KH3 all over again.

It's really not as bad as everyone seems to think considering they're announcing the NX soon (which will release later this year, let's be realistic) which will absolutely be backwards compatible with Wii U games.

Pikmin 3. That's like the only Wii U game I really want. XD

But if the new Nintendo system coming out eventually is backwards compatible... I might just wait for that. I'll be getting a ps4 first though. :monster:

That's true.

Then again, Nintendo, from what I'm understanding, seem to have problems with console games while being sucessful with their handheld games. With Square Enix, it's the other way around-being sucessful in their console games while having problems with handheld games/mobile games/PC games.

While on that note, I don't think Nintendo's gonna have much luck on the new Pokemon GO game either. Looks very fiddly from what I saw on Youtube on the beta version the other day.

Zelda: Twilight Princess & Wind Waker HD versions
Mario Kart 8
Super Mario 3D World
Super Mario Bros U
(And sure you could throw in Nintendoland and Splatoon to the roster easily enough)

I like the Wii U :awesome:
A seriously good console for local co-op games (especially platforming games), I've found. And yes, Mario Maker is as fun as you'd imagine ^_^

But alluding to what Lex said, it's unlikely the games will be beyond reach in the future - so, if a Nintendo NX can't interest ya, grab a Wii U anywhere offering a good bargain. Although, then you gotta fork out more than the value in games :P

Ooh Mario Kart 8.... Have you played that one Red? How is it, if you have? I love Mario Kart, but it's so hard to find people to play with. XD I still end up doing all the races on my own. :awesome:

^Yup!
I have played all the ones I've mentioned above (bar Twilight Princess, which is waiting to be played after Wind Waker). MK8 is definitely the best Mario Kart I've played. Fast-paced, unique courses, great level of detail (easy to miss as you're racing by, but every play of a level allows ya to pick up on more detail :)).

Which one(s) are you familiar with, that you normally play? If you end up getting MK8, I happen to know someone you can play online with (*Psst*, by that I mean me :awesome:)

Duke Nukem Forever was a whole lot worse. I still have GamePro and EGM magazines that reported that game being revealed, and I didn't even have dial-up internet in my home when those issues were published, and by the time that game finally was released, the Duke Nukem IP was treated like "yesterday's news that nobody cares about anymore".

The best, you say? I like the sounds of that :awesome: I've played every Mario Kart except for the gameboy one, Super Circuit (only because I didn't have a gameboy advance). Out of them all, I really enjoy MKWii the best. I love how they've been including twice as many courses by remaking the older ones. Also, I love using motorcycles. :awesome: I like the 3DS version too but it's still a small screen, and I prefer to play games on big screens if I can.

If I do finally get MK8, I might have to take you up on that offer. :monster: I've never played MK online before, but it would be loads of fun to play with someone I know. :joy:

(Side note: Oooh you've never played Twilight Princess? I hope you enjoy it when you do; it's honestly one of my favorite Zelda games. I consider it on par with OoT!)

Twilight Princess' spectacular combat has actually made it difficult for me to go back to OoT. It's just so satisfying. And the fact that Link does a flourish whenever you sheath your sword after defeating one of the "main" enemies is just such an awesome touch.

Any of you talking about Mario Kart, especially if you don't have a Nintendo system, have you played Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed? Despite the absurd title, it is actually fantastic and if you have it for PS3 I would love to play it with you.

Know what would have been fantastic, but I doubt it ever crossed their mind? A D&D type game, where the person holding the pad is the DM.

I haven't played it, but it's good to know there are still decent karting games beyond Mario Kart, which I've always felt has been just a touch overrated. Don't get me wrong, they're good games, but I still maintain that Crash Team Racing was and is better than any of them.

Anyway, as for the Wii U, I couldn't bring myself to buy a console with such an ungainly controller. I know there are other controllers available, but not all of them are compatible with every game, and besides, the console was designed around the gamepad with the screen. For that reason, I'm actually really looking forward to finding out more about the NX. Ideally, it'll be a functional, no-frills piece of hardware that is highly backwards compatible so I can play the many generations of excellent Nintendo games I've missed out on and which still aren't available on the PC.

I have never agreed with you more than I do in this moment.

And yes, Sonic Racing Transformed was the best kart racer since CTR, imo. (Don't know how MK8 stacks up)

I actually thought that Mario Kart 8 was pretty fun. But then I used the actual main controller with the screen in the middle while everyone else had to use the Wii-motes. I kicked all their butts because I used the arrows instead of having to tilt anything. :monster:

Never played Crash or Sonic racing, though, so I can't compare.

Can I be real

Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed is the best kart racer available right now. It's not as "easy" as some of the others, but it doesn't take long to learn the quirks and it's ridiculously rewarding.

I'm going to play it for a bit right now. Anyone who hasn't seen it is welcome to watch on Steam, there's a "watch this person playing" function.

It was on sale last week for £2.99. I've S ranked all stages and grand prix's on both the PS3 and PS Vita versions, and I'm doing it again on PC. That's how good this game is. It's so fucking fun. Get it if you can, keep an eye out for deals. It pisses me off that it's not more loved. It has Rayman Legends syndrome - fucking amazing but gloriously underrepresented.

The Wii version I'm most familiar with next to MK8. Playing online is sort of fun. Human players are devious little shits - they'll take your boxes deliberately, they'll strike you out of spite quicker than the person who is ahead [backwards attacks], and they know every single shortcut :monster:

There's a score rating where you gain points the better you do, and you start off at 1,000. My friend has approx. 10,000 points, so when I play with him [and at his house I'll thus be at the standard 1,000] I have to compete with players that have somewhere in the 8,000-30,000 range :monster: But when I played from me own house a while ago, and everyone averaged about 1,000-1,500 no more, I was able to win most races :D

And, yes, I can't wait to play Twilight Princess. I loved OoT and Majora's Mask, finding it way too difficult to prefer one over the other, and now it seems like Wind Waker may give them some competition on that!

I haven't, but I briefly touched on Diddy Kong racing a few years back, which was pretty good if I recall right.

It is the best racing game! I had the fortune of finding the PS3 hooked up in the sitting room before heading to work on Sunday, and the spare time to squeeze in two races. Sadly, after a year of not playing, I couldn't drift around Papu's Pyramid as well as I used to, but I still won the races :P

It has Rayman Legends syndrome - fucking amazing but gloriously underrepresented.

Rayman Legends is fantastic! Played it fully through 2-player with a friend this year. If that's the comparison we're talking here, I'll have to take a look in :)

Just a side-note on the Wii U's gamepad. I thought it was awkward too, at first, but I've come to find it easy to use, as well as enjoy the integration of content between TV screen and the gamepad screen. Bonus points for games (like Wind Waker) that you can play like a handheld game, chillaxing in bed all the while ^_^

I'd rather wait for official confirmation than form an opinion based on leaked photos, but that does look pretty weird.

I should add that I'm not actually expecting Nintendo to play it straight - it would be highly out of character for them - but I can hope.
