I honestly thought Rufus was flirting with Tifa in my first OG playthrough. He ignores everyone and goes straight to Tifa when our group is on the roof top. It's quite funny.
Rufus is hot in the Remake, I'd totally ship them. SE had missed the opportunity.

You might be happy to know there are quite a few fanarts out there of Rufus/Tifa now with the Remake out. It's one of the new breakout crackships.

I have read some really good Rufus/Tifa fics, but at the end of the day I'm never fully convinced by them. Leaving aside the incandescent explosion of hotness that the getting together of the two most attractive people in the FFVII universe would be, I cannot believe Tifa would ever respect him or trust him enough to have a relationship with him. She strikes me as a person who needs both those elements in place before she'll get intimate with someone. That's my headcanon, anyway. I think Aerith is way more up for fun casual sex than Tifa. Moreover, she'd always worry that people would assume she was with him for his money. His money would be a big point again him, in her mind.

But because Tifa is kind, and lacks assertiveness, and alway tries to accentuate the positive, Rufus would interpret her attempts at letting him down gently as encouragement.

I once read a fic in which his wooing of her took the form of extremely elaborate negging. It was funny but a bit uncomfortable.

The fact that they're initially enemies is part of their appeal to me, tbh. Depending on how you'd imagine their subsequent interactions, they can be wrought with belligerent sexual tension. The progression of their relationship lies in them overcoming their initial dislike (or hate) for each other (although I don't think Rufus ever hated Tifa specifically), like Elizabeth and Darcy. I always took Rufus as a smarmy character who can be unintentionally funny in his over-the-topness, and i think it compliments with Tifa's serious and down-to-earth nature.

I have this picture of Rufus taking pleasure of Tifa's dislike of him, intentionally bugging her with his presence like the troll king he is (the potential interactions are funny in my head), until eventually they see pass their prejudices and grow closer together.

I am aware they are a crackship, but it is a sexy crackship nonetheless.

It is, it is. It's funny because it's like an adult man acting like an 8-year old boy just to get his crush's attention.

I think it's one of those Rufus-Tifa fics you shared here at some point. I'm on my phone because I'm walking my dog so it's difficult for me to check right now (I had the fics bookmarked in my laptop). I haven't gone through everything there yet, although I had read some of the short atmospheric ones. One of those fics you shared is a behemoth, I don't know if I'll ever get around to reading it, but I'll try.

Although admittedly, I'm more a fanart over fanfic kind of guy, which just elevates Rufus-Tifa to me. They're aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. :desu:

In b4 my Rufus-Tifa ship sentiments get transferred here from the other thread.

Rufus-Tifa is an insanely hot ship, so hot that it burned itself into a funeral pyre, sunk to the depths of the lovebermuda triangle, and transformed itself into a sexy submarine.

I only appreaciate them in fanarts, all fanfiction with that pairing is terrible because lol Tifa needs to be lobotomized to even pretend to like Rufus.
My go-to horny ship is Zack-Tifa. I have a thing for dark hair and they're so energetic together. :awesome:
But then the Remake happened and AerTi stole my heart and CloTi came back with a vengeance. And weird things happened.

Now, a question to all the thread dwellers:
Do you want to see my Sephiroth/Jenova's head pic here? It's almost finished. The first one isn't porn, just... unsettling.

Although they'd look smoking hot together, I don't really ship Rufus and Tifa because frankly Rufus needs someone who would put him in his place and throw rapid fire quips right back at him, and I can't see that happening. I also don't think Tifa would appreciate his sense of humor that much either. :monster: I always see Rufus as being with an extroverted wildcard character like Reno or Elena. All of the Rufti fics I've read seem to have Rufus being kinda creepy and honestly it's hard for me to see it panning out any other way - I would be open to any fic recommendations though, because I'm sure I haven't read all of them.

Oh, I definitely agree. It's fanarts > fanfics when it comes to them. And as someone who prefers fanarts over fanfics, they are perfect to me. :desu:Although I don't mind short fics about them; they don't even need to end up together, they only need to interact. Then again, I have no delusions for this ship... err, submarine.

Submarines are nice, guys. We can watch all the kois fish people fishes underwater and it's a nice sight.
