Silly Sony, trying to cash in thrice / four times on all their games these days, :monster:. Ico deserves a re-release because it sold shitty back when it was still new, but at full price?

Yeah, I don't see much difference except better framerates and higher resolution, :monster:. Which is good, of course, but... not that impressive.

Still, the games did age well, I can't say they're outdated graphically (the PS2 versions, that is).

Minor announcement,

Sony revealed yesterday on its PlayStation Blog that there is more to the HD remakes of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus than just the games. It seems there will be bonus content on the disc (as if the games weren’t enough) as well as a couple of XMB themes for those that purchase the game new.

Now they weren’t entirely forthcoming with exactly what the content would be, but they did say that “every new copy of the game will [contain] a voucher for two XMB Dynamic Themes, one for ICO and one for Shadow of the Colossus. In addition, on the disc itself will be a ton of exclusive video content from ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian that fans won’t want to miss.” That’s right, Last Guardian videos! All I can say is that it better not be just the footage we have already seen.

They article states that Sony is still finalizing what the videos will be and they will let us know more details next month. The ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Collection, which will sport 1080p graphics, stereoscopic 3D support, 7.1 surround sound, and PSN Trophies, releases for the PlayStation 3 on September 27th for $39.99.

Any word on if we can port info from our PS2 memory cards? (non-backwards compatible PS3's can still use that one attachment to read PS2 cards, right?)

I'm sure they can (use the memory card adapter), but I feel like the remakes will use PS3-saves. I haven't played any of the other HD PS2 remakes, so I don't really know I guess.

But would you need your saves anyway? Unless you were in the middle of a SotC playthrough, would it matter?

SoTC has New Game+. There are extra items you can get, time attack mode, hard mode, and you also build your health and stamina to try and climb all the way up the tower to the secret garden.

But I guess since I already know how to beat all the colossi it probably wouldn't take too long to get through everything anyway. :P

You know, I remember playing SotC with a sense of awe at how gorgeous it was.

That video makes the PS2 version look like utter shit. I don't remember it looking THAT pixelated.

But still, damn, I think I might break down and buy this. End of the month omg.

I have so many games to play...

I also watched that video with my nephew leaning over the side of my chair.

"Who's that? Is that a guy? Why's he riding a horse? Is it still raining? Are they going to break the bridge? What's he going to do in there? What's down there? Water? Why's there water down there? Is that a girl? What's wrong with the girl? ("She's sick") Why is she sick? (shadow guys pop up) Who are they? ("Shadow people.") What are they doing there? ("They live there.") Why do they live there? Are they bad shadow people? ("Yes but the guy has a sword. Now they are going away.") Yeah. (Blanket blows away) Where did her thing go?"

My brother was also unimpressed with the improvement. Oh well. :/

I do. Played it on an HDTV though. Still looked good for a PS2 game. This is gonna be so much better though. :D
Never played Ico before so I'm looking forward to that too.

Ah I see. I've never hooked my PS2 up to a HDTV so I wouldn't know. Everything looks nice on a regular TV.

Also, Ico is gorgeous. If I hadn't played Ico I probably never would have played SotC, and I wouldn't be looking forward to Last Guardian so much. <3

I just can't wait until this is out. When I got my PS3 I was so pissed it was one of the ones that didn't have backwards compatibility, simply because I knew it meant I couldn't play this game (My PS2 broke years ago). I pre-ordered this game ages ago and it'll be out soon. Yay daddy.

EDIT: And yes, I do remember the pixelation from the original. It never hindered how great that game was but this will be a massive improvement.

The game (or at least, SotC, never got my hands on Ico) still looks good enough on a HDTV, imho. I don't mind the graphics either - what I did mind was the inconsistent framerate. I don't mind if the gameplay isn't that fast / action-packed / whatever, just as long as the framerate is smooth and purdy.

I got my power bill this month and I didn't know electricity was so fucking expensive D:
(It's the first power bill I ever had to pay =P)

I pretty much canceled all preorders of games I don't need to play like right the fuck when they come out (i.e. HD collections and the likes).

This is the entire reason that I preorder games (one at a time), and pay them off in full when I do have money. That way I can still have something new to play for a while inbetween being inundated by bills/life. Right now, Arkham City owns that position, and everything else has to wait.
