Activity is dropping because we're not focusing enough on Final Fantasy.
Yeah man I know what you mean. I don't want a shoutbox because its ugly too.even if it adds more members to the forums, it will just be like FCF's shoutbox (the only other 1 i have seen) which would be stupid. Seeing people chatting like MSN, not everyone wants to see that at the bottom of the page everytime they log in.
Right, so we're supposed to be undiscriminating towards every suggestion put forth?
Quexinos might have a point then. Maybe a porn section wouldn't hurt...
Yeah you go on telling yourself that. I was by far this site's most active member and I really couldn't care less what you do related to final fantasy, because guess what, I've completely lost interest in the series. And seeing the inane quality of all non-Final Fantasy-related discussion at this board has inspired me to contribute almost exactly zero time to it.
GF was in like April dude, and Teams were even earlier than that. Maybe RP was more recently, I honestly never cared. And the GF, Teams, and RP section were in the past six months. That makes no sense.
Corrections.Yeah, because we so haven't been open and tried various other ideas like moving to VB, Teams, Social Groups, the Roleplay Forum, the Venue, General Fuckery, and the other shit members have put forth, right?
I don't see why you can't try to raise activity in Final Fantasy sections, while simultaneously doing whatever you can to raise activity in other sections as well. I used to post in Final Fantasy sections despite not really caring about the games just because the quality of the activity on the rest of the board was good enough that the few extra minutes it would take to check FF threads was proportionally worth my while. Now that there's nothing worth reading, I don't really even care enough to participate in the community. You seem to be acting as though the two forms of activity are mutually exclusive, when the truth of the matter is that it's the exact opposite.Good for you. Luckily, there are tons of people just like you that are active and are interested in Final Fantasy. Let's go find those people.
Or let's stand around and talk about needing to do something because our boat is sinking, and when people try to help we shoot down their ideas because 'we went with some ideas in the past and you see what happened'.LET'S
TRY
EVERYTHING

Much better to not do anything and watch it sink.
You sure you weren't at the helm of the Titanic?
Also, Lost has been on hiatus for far longer than FFVII news has, and the forums at Lost's Spoiler-tv have actually been buzzing with activity because every few weeks or so the staff come up with a new community project for everybody to get involved in. This generates a constant buzz of activity and excitement, and actually encourages new members to join up to get involved. So, I'm not sure what TLS' excuse is for letting activity drop to the extent that it has.

lack of effort into teams -> dissolving of teams -> creation of Venue
GF is a general success and you know it. Barring Atticus, at least =/
But hey, it's your site. Do as you please.

So come up with some good Final Fantasy-related suggestions. I've seen nothing.
Meanwhile, that's a piss poor reason to shoot down other suggestions that can raise activity.
Much better to die of hypothermia or drowning.Just because a boat is sinking doesn't mean it's 'let's try everything from everyone because gosh darn it, they're trying'. Even in the midst of disaster, there are good ideas and bad ideas.
Pot. Kettle. Black. You're right and we've been discussing that. And now that you mention it, I have yet to see anyone in this four (five!) page thread come up with a FF related suggestion.
Personally, I very much enjoy when a forum has a chatbox. It gives me more incentive to come back and chat with members even when there is little activity going on in the threads. That's just my two cents, though.
And you clearly haven't demonstrated to everyone's satisfaction why a shoutbox is a bad idea.Just because a boat is sinking doesn't mean it's 'let's try everything from everyone because gosh darn it, they're trying'. Even in the midst of disaster, there are good ideas and bad ideas.
That's because - shock and awe - most of us couldn't care less about Final Fantasy. We come here because we like chatting to the people who use the forum. But since staff have done basically fuck all lately to encourage good conversation out of the Final Fantasy sections, there really isn't any incentive for most of us to even bother continuing to come. But hey, if you want your site activity to wither away further, be my guest. You're right and we've been discussing that. And now that you mention it, I have yet to see anyone in this four (five!) page thread come up with a FF related suggestion.
cool, i agree, but you always end up with silly idiots taking control and turning it into a private chat for ***t's
Yes, so a suggestion implemented six months ago doesn't fall within the timeframe of "oh, six months" that I was referring to.If it was back in April, that's still within the past six months. We're in October.
May, June, July, August, Sept., and now October. That's six months.
That and the music section were basically rollovers from the team section. And the debate forum was also implemented per user request. So again. That assertion we weren't listening and open to suggestions here, is bull.
