Silent Hill: Revelations (SH 2 film)

ShockTillYouDrop.com reports that Michael J. Bassett will direct Silent Hill: Revelations, which will be released in 3D

Bassett's credits include Solomon Kane and Deathwatch.

"Revelations" focuses on a protagonist named Heather Mason who, on the eve of her 18th birthday, is plagued by nightmares and now has to investigate the disappearance of her father.

The first film, directed by Christophe Gans and starring Radha Mitchell, earned $97.6 million at the worldwide box office.

I think this will be interesting. I like to see who they'll cast as Heather Mason. Who would you like to see in that role?

I fucking LOVED the first Silent Hill movie. Well, maybe not LOVE but I really, really enjoyed it. I don`t care what anyone says, best video game to film adaptation by far.

However, I am kind of wary at there being a new director. I thought the previous one did a pretty awesome job at capturing the Silent Hill feel.

Haha, yeah the end was a bit extreme. I was like "I don't think that was in the game." :s
I liked that they opened the film with the game's theme.

I don't remember SH3 too much, but I imagine it was somewhat a different feel from the first game. So I think it'd be cool to see what this new director can do.

They got the tone/visuals from the game down in the first one, but it was pretty crap after she met up with the police woman again/met the cult (iirc. most of the movie is a blur to me timeline wise)

Oh, please! That barbed wire part ... too extreme? That's nonsense! That's not even close to extreme when it comes to this game. xD I DID enjoy the first movie, I am quite glad to see they are now choosing a game (one of the best) and basing the movie off of it instead of borrowing parts from different games and mixing... while adding new things as well. (characters, whatever) Though, for just being a general SH based movie they did well, but I did expect a bit more from it. It wasn't as... twisted as I thought. Which is what really excites me about the game - how extremely crazy it is. I think the only part about that movie that scared me was the janitor... OMFG... /dies/

Anyway, there is a lot, and I mean A LOT of crazy shit in the third game. I would love for them to really spend time on perfecting this movie, making it really great, really creepy, really awesome like it should be. I think it'd be really awesome to have people who have never played the games, to be inspired by the movie to play them. BD Or at least shit a few bricks while watching.

Maybe my expectations are too high, but I really think it should be epic. Whoever fucked up Resident Evil REALLY fucked up, but for SH there is still hope.

i hated the first film. im sorry i even vaguely hoped for something symbolistic or decent when we got a room full of stripper nurses and a legend of the overfiend ending. someone needs to take this series out back with a shotgun and do what needed to be done with the first movie.

Help Michael Bassett cast Heather!

Some requirements apply:

1) Has to be a known actress with existing credits.
2) Has to be able to realistically play 18 years old. You all know how the character is supposed to look. I’m not slavishly going to be led by the pixels but it’s a good starting point. Talent is more important.
3) Just the name. No long explanations or rationalizations. Just the name. You can include the link to their IMDB page. If they haven’t got an IMDB page then they’re not a candidate.
4) I’m not going to get into any response or comments about the ideas but I will look at everyone. Deviations from the above will be deleted.

He seems to be going about this the right way at least. Any film director that's trying to get help from the fanbase about making the movie earns a cautiously awarded gold star in my eyes.

Trying to think of an actual actress for the role is a bit more tricky.

(But would it be much harder trying to cast James Sunderland, and subsequently make the correct movie? HINT HINT)

Adelaide Clemens and Kit Harington will star in Davis Films' vidgame adaptation "Silent Hill: Revelation 3D" with production starting this week in Toronto.
Davis Films' Samuel Hadida and Don Carmody are producing. Michael J. Bassett ("Solomon Kane") is directing and international sales are being handled by Lionsgate.

Hadida and Carmody most recently produced "Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D." They've also teamed on "Resident Evil: Apocalypse" and the earlier "Silent Hill," directed by Christophe Gans.

The story centers on a teenage girl and her father on the run, one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn't fully understand. Now on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by terrifying nightmares and the disappearance of her father, she discovers she's not who she thinks she is

Clemens' credits include "X-Men Origins : Wolverine," "Vampire" and the upcoming "Mad Max: Fury Road.

Harington is in the upcoming "Game of Thrones."

Clemens is repped by UTA and manager Ashley Josephson while Harington is repped by CAA.

Anyway, it's not horrible, but I can't say "Wow, looks great!" either. xD I really hope they do well with this movie. They could make something REALLY awesome so I hope it won't be ruined. T^T
