I hope its leading towards an AC quality remake of FF VII on the next gen consoles, but that's just me. I'd much rather see the best game in the series on the graphical level of its prequel and sequels than a new game that might suck.

Game graphics won't change much in the next ten years. Technology will get better and better, and you'll see more special effects and whatnot that make the games more immersive. Like water bouncing off the character models(I think there's a game coming up that does this already), better shaders, more advanced geometry, enhanced texturing, lighting effects, and environments that are constantly changing.

Shit like that. But don't expect CG quality like AC in games. Even if we get the tech for that kind of thing in our consoles, it just won't be economical for the average gamer. Look how people shit themselves over the ps3 ffs. I just don't see it happening for a very, very long time, given the history of gaming.

I'd rather go ahead and have it now than wait.

As far as the AC style I was using hyperbole, I didn;t mean literally mean all of the game needed to look rendered. Hell, I'd be happy with a VII remake in Crisis Core graphics, but I'd rather wait and get one in FF XIII quality.

When you say next gen, I figured you meant next gen, not current gen.

Honestly I don't really think much of FFXIII's graphics, but that's personal opinion.

I'm going to disagree on you with that one. Game graphics looked a lot better only a small while after VII, and they can do VIII's CG's pretty good already - perhaps not in terms of poly count, but certainly in terms of how it looks, and then with additional added effects, such as reflection / refraction, shading, etcetera and whatnot. I'm confident that video games will at least look like AC's graphics in the next five years, and be equal to within ten.

Although I have to add to that that it's becoming less economical to do graphics like that, as the cost of creating games and graphics (in terms of time, and time = money) will increase more and more if the bar for graphics keeps going upwards.

But I'm confident that CG-looking game graphics are very much possible, and probably closer than you'd think.

Oh they're possible, but you won't see them in console games for a very long time. It's not economical, and at this point it would be pointless. Game graphics are at a phenominal level already. Pouring more money into graphics at this point would be silly.

And no, CG level game graphics ain't happening any time soon. People said we'd have Shrek level graphics in games now by now a long while ago, and we still don't. Trying to make games look CG is a waste of money anyway.

You won't see the same growth in graphics that you saw from psone to ps2 again. Look at what happened with the Xbox360/Ps3 people were completely underwhelmed by the imagery offered by the consoles when they appeared on the market. Sure we're getting great looking games now, but it still not that huge a leap from what we saw last gen.

I just don't see it happening, and it wouldn't really be worth the money when graphics are already at an incredible level. Look at the final boss fight in MGS4, fucking breath taking.

Every Compilation title gives a hint as to what the next game will deliver.

Before Crisis gave hints to Dirge of Cerberus with the Costa del Sol mission. They had Azul in it.

Advent Children also gave a hint to Dirge of Cerberus when Cloud asked Vincent if sins can be forgiven. Vincent replied, "I never tried."

Dirge of Cerberus gave a hint to Crisis Core with the whole mysterious SOLDIER G....

In Crisis Core, we found out about Genesis. Now, in CC, we found out about Minerva and LOVELESS. We know Genesis is back, and he has Weiss with him. On TOP of that, with the release of ACC, they're starting to make a big deal of Denzel.

I'm guessing the next game will have to do with Genesis, the Goddess (Minerva), and Denzel. Now that I think of it, it sounds kind of exciting.

I remember on the ACF I brought up a Cid strategy game where you play as him in his ship. I also had one about Nanaki. Don't really know what it'd be about, but the gameplay would kinda be like Twilight Priness and Cait Sith would be on your back in place of Midna. Somebody should mod this.
