I do sometimes see some spam happening and other spam.. getting closed. There is some inconsistency but being an admin myself, I know that this isn't because the mods and admins are bad, it's just that they don't see everything. I understand why the thread was locked... it sucks but on a forum this big, a spam section would just be too massive.

A thread with no discussion value, specification on what it is, with nothing but a few quotes in the title, and laughing at people on a random chat site, doesn't make a thread a "funny post" thread, nor something that's entitled to be left open. It's spam.

The problem is the thread was never specified as to what it was meant to be in the op.

The lady just posted some quotes and laughed at them. I wouldn't really call that a funny quote thread.

I intended it to be a topic where we posted our funny convos and laughed at them. It lasted for a night but... with a topic like that, it's only going to be active for a couple days. I posted it on two others forums that same day and those topics are all ready dead so... it would have died anyway.

Funny you mention that "Listening" thread because it was talked about awhile ago about it being spam and I thought it should be closed due to it not really...discussing anything, but several mods and members expressed liking it and wanting it open so we just figured to let it stay since its been around since the very beginning of the forum and people use the hell out of it.

Just about everyone who posted in that thread agreed there was an inconsistency in the way staff handled things. I acted to solve the inconsistency. I'm sorry I did it in a way that upset staff. It might not be EVERY MEMBER ON THE BOARD but it's a goddamn lot of them.

The posts weren't off topic. The topic was posting funny quotes from Omegle. How is that not discussion-worthy? Moreover, how is pasted quotes from IM conversations not adequate content to make a post not spam? If there's interesting and intriguing or humorous content in a post, why is it spam?

I got thanked for my posts by at least 5 other people who didn't post in the topic much. If anyone who read it disagreed with the consensus expressed in the thread, they didn't show it. And yes, eleven people in a thread that's open for about three hours is a lot of people.

Obviously it hasn't been here as long, the fucking site didn't wasn't even well known until a few months ago. Music is a staple of any board's conversation by contrast. And it hasn't been used by as many members only because it wasn't allowed to remain open for more than a day.

I said thanking a post doesn't mean I agree with every detail expressed within it. It does generally, in the absence of other evidence, serve as a fairly reliable indicator that the most important sentiments expressed are agreeable though.

I think there's a lot of unnecessary undiscussional threads here tbph. Chit Chat, Listening Thread... hell, half of the threads in GC eventually DO get derailed and spammy, but a lot of them are still over looked.

I'm not sure why the Omegle thread was closed, even if it was just for lulz. Isn't lulz a good thing to discuss? I'm not sure where to draw the line on what's spam and what isn't, and it's become apparent tonight that alot of the Mods have different definitions.

It being funny is subjective, first of all, and I'm pointing to the fact that there's no discussion value in regards to its existence. That's where the rules clarify and speak towards. Not about it being funny or a funny post should be counted as spam.

So if its obvious, why are you comparing the "Listening" thread, to this one? It's not anywhere close, and it's not going to be allowed because its not a special circumstance like the "What are You Listening to" thread is.
