Specifically about what to do with Ryu.

I believe you've already been told that we're going to be more open about reported posts. When a decision is made for a report, we will also contact the reporter letting him know the situation has been addressed. That way, you folks won't be left in the dark as far as reporting goes.

I tried to think of a way to phrase this that doesn't seem like severe ass kissing, but what the hell:

I actually like the moderation on this forum. If I didn't, I probably would have left. Then again I don't know most the mods here or been modded or reprimanded myself but my point still stands. I guess more "aggressive" mods like Mako or Ryu don't bother me because I knew them in debates before I knew them as mods, and I felt that was just how they approached arguments and it was nothing personal.

I don't feel that their unapproachable or out to get anybody. And most of all, I appreciate how they seem to really care about this forum. I honestly think that the incident that happened before was more of an exception than the rule, and more because people are inclined to jump in the defense of a friend. It was wrong, but I think the fact that they were willing to open themselves to a forum wide audit says a lot.

That's my two cents. I think that there are things that do probably need to be changed, but overall, I quite enjoy how this forum is run.

I haven't written anything because I feel I haven't been on here long enough to really have a valid opinion on you gaiz. But overall I'm happy with the moderation on the forum, and I'm also quite proud over how the dramaz that happened has been handled -- from all sides, really.

Edit: Also -- kudos to all of you for being so open about being openly evaluated by the members. In work situations it's quite common to get honest feedback, and though it can sting to get negative feedback, it's very helpful in the end, and I do hope you guys feel all input are valuable input, even if not just positive. Thanks for this oportunity for people to express their opinions (I'll say that even if I didn't take it )

I've never seen a forum where "evaluate us! please!" has ever been a topic, but it's an awesome thing that you weren't just willing, but also seemed to want it, and viewed it as a positive thing and not an "oh no, here comes our grades from the whiney people".

I wanted to say something but it seemed more like praise than critique. And it was mostly about Aaron and Tennyo. I always felt comfortable whenever I presented them with a personal problem and they were always easy to talk to. I always thought they both handled my personal issues mod-like and kind. With other mods and staff it just feels very awkward for me, but with them I feel at ease. Overall on the boards I also saw no problems. I just see Aaron being more active with his mod duties while Tennyo is being behind-the-scenes in terms of being a mod for the forums. I can also see why she didn't vocally participate at all within the past drama, which I understand. In fact, it makes me want to talk to her more in the future because of what she did, because she wasn't so active like the rest. I guess that sounds stupid since Aaron was very vocal during that time, but I like how he handles the forum business overall. I saw no problem with how he handled things before, and I don't see any problems now.

So yeah, with no critique, that's why it took me the longest to say this. Mostly because it doesn't sound like it's what you're looking for. :sadpanda: I do like how you all banded together and sought how you all stood before us members. I admire that.

So yeah, about this, we decided to demote Ryu to section moderator for the Final Fantasy sections. The demotion will only last a few months. Provided there are no more complaints during that time, he will regain his position as S.Mod. He will still maintain access to the staff forum, and his privileges as a member of Site Staff will go unchanged. He's always been one of our most valuable assets in that regard, I think we can all agree on that. As for the staff reviews, each of us will take those to heart and we'll work on what needs to be changed.

I was thinking we should have a another critique somewhere down the road to see if we've made any improvements. Let me know what you folks think about that.

Btw, major brownie points for Mako for coming through and helping us come to a solution.

Another one down the road could be nice. Maybe sometime in June? Or perhaps March so and we can make it a quarterly thing?
