The Genesis Sequel

Nothing in AC implies "OH HEY DENZEL AND MARLENE ARE JUST LIKE CLOUD AND AERIS AND OH THEY'RE GONNA BE FUTURE HEROES AND MAIN CHARACTERS".
Denzel looks up to Cloud quite a bit and even tries to fight off some of the monsters (fighter role).

Marlene's got her hair done up almost like Aeris had hers, takes care of Denzel (healer role), and senses/sees Aeris.

It's not a lot, but it is there. They're not mini-me's of Cloud & Aeris, but there are parallels there. I'm not even trying to say it's definitive proof that they'd ever star in their own game. I don't even like the idea. I just thought it was an interesting idea to consider.

That doesn't parallel to Cloud at all. Denzel looking up to Cloud and trying to defend himself =/= Cloud. It just means he has an idol he wants to be like, not that he's anything like him in reality.

A lot of characters see her, how is that a parallel? Marlene's hair is not "done up" like Aeris'. Come on, that really is a stretch, she has a braid in her hair, that's it.

If you so choose to interpret them as such.

Marlene is a Mini Tifa. We are told so explicitly in RF. Her personality is like TIFA. TIFA is the caretaker.
BURN that info into your brain. I am SICK of repeating shit that ought to be common knowledge at this point.

I think it's less of a braid stretch, and more of a conscious input from the creators who made Marlene's braid a two part twist (just like Aerith's) and not the traditional three part twist braid, and inserted the pink ribbon in the same spot in her hair (just like Aerith's). As well as completely mimicking the little two triangle ribbon pieces that sticks out from behind her head when shown a frontal view. :awesomonster:

A brand new game with brand new characters that is AS GOOD as FFVII would be better than flogging Cloud & Co to death. Although I do think a nice DS game based on Cloud delivering packages through mazes would be acceptable. There could be a side quest where Tifa mixes cocktails.

Maybe so, but I doubt that's Sqex setting Marlene up to be Aerith 2.0 :monster: That's probably just their way of showing that Aerith's memory lives in in Marlene's heart just like the rest of Avalanche, who all have the armband ribbons.

And Marlene's braid is a 3-part braid, not a 2-part, like Aerith's.

Where did they say they made Marlene's hair like Aerith's? Marlene has been compared to Tifa, specifically in the Reunion Files. Marlene wears Aerith's *ribbon.*

I sure I remember seeing it somewhere -- something about Marlene being a Tifa-in-training, but it also mentioned her hair being made to resemble Aerith's -- but can't even remember what color the webpage was. But even if if it wasn't stated, the hair thing -is- kind of obvious. :monster:

But I still disagree about her and Denzel being mini-me versions of Aerith and Cloud. That's just... weird.

It's not anywhere. I have no idea where that came from. I don't know where they said Marlene's hair resembled Aerith's and I own the book.

And I'm not sure how its that obvious. They both have a braid. The only real parallel is Marlene wearing Aerith's ribbon.

Then disregard that I mentioned it. I can't find it either, so it probably wasn't reliable anyway. :monster:

...Yea. That's exactly what it is. Aerith held her braid up by a ribbon at the top, and Marlene uses the same ribbon at the top of her braid to hold it up. That's the obvious part. :awesome: I doubt there's anything else being looked at about it -- if there is, I can't see it either.

Back on topic, I think a game with Genesis would suck ass.

I do however think a game with him as the bad guy again would be good. But not as just a crazy want to kill everything for no reason bad guy. I think he should be more on a mission, and he dosnt care about the consiquences.

Something like he wants to clense the planet, and make the life stream pure. But by doing this he may end all life on the planet. But he dosnt care and see's himself as the only one capable of doing it. Much like his quest in Crisis Core to recieve the gift of the godess

The thing I like about Genesis is his elogant and graceful presance when on screen. Sephiroth although not on screen much in the original had a cold and dominant presance on screen, be good to have a a counter balance to this with Genesis.

(sorry if anyone else has said something familiar but I cant be arsed reading 20 pages)

A sequel with Genesis could be interesting, and probably a given considering DC's secret ending. There's just one thing I'm wondering. Will he still be spouting Loveless through half his dialogue again, do you think?

No. All chapters were already "enacted" throughout CC, and Genesis "wrote" his own version of the lost final chapter. Loveless is finished.

How can LOVELESS possibly be finished when the entire poem lasts for about 1 minute? How can you make a timeless theatrical classic out of that? Even as it 'exists' in its so-called entirety, it's only brief soundbites from what ought to be the full epic poem.

In the Genesis sequel, he roams the boundaries of life and death, seeking through the world and the Lifestream for the perfect LOVELESS cast. Disney then tries to buy the rights to make it into an animated cartoon. Battle ensues, lawyers are summoned, copyrights invoked, writs cast, etc.... The Turks shoot the entire board of Disney in the back, and Rufus mounts a successful hostile takeover. I'd pay to play this.

A Genesis sequel would be terrible. At least Weiss had a reason he was personality-less, he was taken over by Hojo (for all intents and purposes, is one of the more interesting villains in FFVII). Genesis not only delivered terrible dialogue, he was annoying for most of his screen time. It would be nice to see what good deed Genesis was up to with Weiss, but not as an entire story, but as an aside to a different one.

I'd rather have an Ancient prequel. With Jenova as the big bad.
lol, oh, it's from somewhere. Check under "staff notes".

Whether Denzel is a parallel to Cloud or not, I do think that a new RPG with him as the protagonist would perhaps be best. A RPG with all of AVALANCE returning would be nice, save that Cloud and Vincent should start at level 60 with the best weapons they'll be able to obtain. Now another action game like CC or DoC could be an option too but I think the Compilation should end with a proper FFVII-2. Between Shelke, Marlene and Moogle Girl, Denzel at least has assembled enough female characters for a new date sequence.

No. Hell no.

FFVII is about Cloud and his team, not a few scattered defenseless orphans for fuck's sake. I still can't see how people think this is a good idea, it's fucking stupid.

Beyond that it's treading on old territory. OWTAS ends with Reeve trying to tell Denzel that the next generation needs to strive for things beyond fighting. Doesn't attest too well to all the work Avalanche did throughout the compilation if Denzel and Marlene can't grow up to lead normal, peaceful lives. There's an opportunity for the both of them to be explored further in the future with interesting results, but them fighting just like their parents used to isn't terribly endearing to me.
