Edited 12 April (UTC+8). I've just noticed that "Besaid" from FFX hasn't been nominated. I just assumed that someone would have nominated it and completely overlooked it. This song is so beautiful; to not have it in the competition would be outrageous to me. I have removed "Little Rascal" from FFXII and replaced it with "Besaid" from FFX.

This was my suggestion for handling >256 nominations.

Force, I know I've ribbed you about it already, but I hadn't actually counted up your nominations until now. You made 36, and one of them was from Advent Children, so I discarded it (Aaron said to mention "which game it is from"). I guess it's not a problem for now, but if we end up with over 256 nominations (e.g. if we're on 250 and someone makes 16 nominations at the same time), you'll probably have to cut yours before anyone else does.

I suppose there's a risk that other people would have nominated the same songs as Force had he not got there first. How many nominations are we on now?

Well, yeah, that's exactly why I feel reluctant to remove any of Force's nominations. I almost certainly would have nominated several of them myself, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. A lot of his choices were pretty obvious/popular ones (Dark Messenger, You're Not Alone, Judgement Day, FFVI boss battle, Kefka's theme, Searching for Friends, list goes on).

I think we're at 263 nominations, unless I've miscounted (this is also assuming there are no other duplicates; I haven't checked the new nominations very closely, but I've already noticed Kuja9001's latest is a dupe). I suppose one possible way to handle it is just to put an extra track in seven of the starting brackets and eliminate one extra track in each of them.

One other possibility, which I alluded to above, is that there are probably a few pairs of tracks that are similar enough that they might not need to count as separate tracks, though; "Kuja's Theme" and the Millennium Version thereof are, for example, identical apart from the drums over the latter. I'm not sure if there are seven such pairs, or if doing so would be entirely fair to people who nominated, but it's one possible solution.

I could also just take nine more nominations, bringing us up to 272 songs, and start each round with brackets of seventeen rather than sixteen. That might actually be the best option since it wouldn't require any irregularities in the opening round and also wouldn't require anyone to lose nominations.

I think combining the two Kuja's Theme versions and allowing a few more nominations to reach 272 sounds like the best solution.
