Matrix Awakens tech demo is now playable

Just checked it out, didn't expect there to be an entire open world city where you can drive and fly around in camera mode and shit

looks pretty neat, now give me an entire game like this and make up for Enter the Matrix :wacky:

I played The Matrix Awakens and highly recommend it if you have a PS5. It's free and only lasts like 15 minutes.

The opening video alone is worth it. It reaffirmed my thoughts that Resurrections is going to be meta as heck.

IGN absolutely slated it in their reviews.
Then again IGN haven't been relevant themselves for over a decade.

Maybe I’m missing the point since I’m talking about the tech demo and not the movie itself, but I was both impressed and slightly concerned about what it showed off. Nanite’s real time decimation is exactly what it was premised to be - but the technique used to composite the full resolution version over the decimated one has some visual artifacts around it, especially when the player is in front of it. It made the overall image look…glitchy, I guess? Sort of like a compressed video.
In addition, I got some pretty big frame drops during the arcade shooting section.

I’ll have to play it again, but it was pretty impressive overall. I liked that they give to option see the geometry LOD change as it decimates it. All in all, it shows that the “unlimited polygon” promise is basically true. I’m betting that artifact issue will improve over time.

It can only mean neatly choreographed action scenes without shaky cam bullshit.

So I said this two years ago but from the impressions I'm reading, meh/bad action and shaky cam shit might actually be in the movie and now I'm baffled because how could they let this happen :@
Gonna see it tomorrow, hope I'll at least like the story. Seems this movie is definitely not what anyone would have expected from the Matrix.

Considered watching it this week but news about omicron variant cases increasing in my region has me a bit hesitant and I don't feel like subscribing to HBO just to watch it.

Watched it today. Action does indeed not have any standout moments like the other movies. Pretty disappointed on that front.
Apart from that...I think I liked it? Definitely not your standard followup and self-aware and meta as heck. Feels *very* different from the trilogy.

You know this recent (and horrible, if you ask me) trend of reboots with premises pretty much based solely in nostalgiac aspects of the franchises ("Hey, remember that prop from the original movie, it's now an entire plot point!") has matured when they have become self-aware and apparently self-depreciating :P. I've decided I'm not watching this movie at the cinemas.

Also I'm totally crushing on Jessica Henwick as Bugs and kinda wanna be her; idk, maybe somebody make a Matrix game with her as the main character with that fancy Unreal Engine 5 thingy yeah? :flipmonster:
