I'm still not convinced this game will manage to escape the classic mumorpeger grindfest. It's interesting, but I fear the worst. LotRO was interesting too, for the first fifteen minutes.

Having actually seen gameplay videos, I don't think Bioware will be making the be-all-end-all of MMORPGs, but it certainly does feel quite kinetic, fast-paced and arguably quite able to hold up to World of Warcraft.

Fingers crossed, I guess!

Well yeah, true, but then, almost all western MMORPGs that were published since WoW (LotRO, Age of Conan come to mind) were able to hold up against WoW. But because they were essentially the same game in a different setting with a few unique features, they never really took off - in fact, does Age of Conan still exist?

I'm talking about sales figures, :monster:

Because we all know that the only thing possibly as rabid as a WoW fanbase is a Star Wars or Star Trek fanbase :awesome: That and the MMO is based off one of the most popular Star Wars game series period.

edit: I'm trying to find the sales figures to validate the idea that it is the best-selling Star Wars game series of all time but a) I think it's probably not the case and b) I can't really find a proper comparison site

Perssonaly I'd rather see the Gungans getting picked on than the jawas, but its amusing all the same.

As for the cinematic, I love the smuggler. Dude looks like a cowboy, has possibly the best line in the whole trailer, and his slow-mo walk accompanied by shooting shit is awesome.

The Zabrak Jedi was boss too. I mean seriosuly, the guy used a regul;ar sabr and a staff-saber and fought two sith at the same time! ANd one of those sith was Malgus! Damn man, thats badass. Also really liked the end of the trailer.

Seems after they created Cad Bane every smuggler needs a cool hat :awesome:

I think this puts things into perspective - the Jedi at Alderaan was Sataele Shan (and that trooper seemed to be the same guy). I find it odd that the intro takes place near the very beginning of the war(?)

Also you haven't seen badass until you've seen the Toonami! Clone Wars. :awesomonster:

For some reason Bioware seems really fond with doing there events backwards. The timeline videos started with the end of the wr and are working their way back towards the very first schism in the jedi order. Likewise the trailers started at the sacking of Courascant, and have come backwards roughly thirty years to the start.

But yeah, I've seen the toonami series. It was ok, but I wouldn't really qaulify it as badass. Except Mace, he was cool in that one.

It also explains why all the familiar characters look so much younger rofl

are you kidding

compared to any prequel or EU material the RULE OF COOL IS IN FULL EFFECT THERE (and omg shaak ti <3)

I only brought it up because it reminded me of how Shaak Ti fended off like 15 MagnaGuards with one of their staffs and her own lightsaber (and iirc she technically is nearly the best master swordsmen of the Jedi Council)

Ah shit thanks for reminding me of that! I damn near forgot Shaak Ti. Yeah, her fight with the magna guards was badass, as was her disposal of Greivous.

As for her lightsaber skill, I don't think its really been officially stated. I generally rate her as being in the orders top ten, but probably on the back half of that list.

On the one hand, I am excite.

On the other, the space battle thing seems to be the most fun gameplay thing, on a first glance. :/.

as an MMO it looks pretty good, but as a game in general it seems a tad mediocre.

I'd probably just stick with a group and go through their available story, like, once. As long as it doesn't involve excessive grind to play through the plot, I'm good for a subscription or two.

Also yeah note how the E3 2011 trailer chronologically takes place *before* the E3 2010 one, lawl.

According to people who have played the demo TOR looks similiar to other MMOs in terms of gameplay, but is a bit more involved, so more player effort is required, thus keeping it a bit more interesting on the combat front than WoW, for example.

The real selling point I think is the class stories and the fact that every line of dialogue is fully voiced.

Silly people, :monster:. I find the 50+ bucks for the normal version (and just one month of gameplay) plenty enough, especially considering one won't know if it's actually fun without a demo.

You're right. I worked Thursday night we were suppose to start taking preordered the next day. Opened the shop this morning and we have an email to not take any more preorders.

Looks like the website still has ordering available but not sure how long that'll last.

GS Canada is looking to try and get more copies, but as of now no more preorders.

This is the fastest I've ever seen something like this sell out. Talk about not realising your demand.
