Okay let me see how much I remember
Favourite season: Season 1 was perfect for me. It had really great story arcs that came thick and fast, lots of great characters to love (or hate), and really tackled all angles of the concept.
This one is hard. I have to admit I kind of lost interest in the show with season 4 and 5. I want to say season 2, even for having no Amber in it, because it was all about trying to develop their society, building a democracy etc. I also liked the idea of bringing religion into the mix - although they kind of took it a bit too far with the whole Guardian thing - but this storyline also introduced one of my favourite characters: Lt. Luke.
Favourite plotline: I loved the whole viral mutation storyline and how the group had to try and find an antidote.
Same! It's directly linked with the premise of the show and held the most mystery to me.
Favourite antagonist: No question! Ebony without a doubt. I absolutely loved how scheming and down right ambitious she was. A really awesome character.
Mine's Ram. That disability thing gives him depth, plus his actor is quite good - it's always nice to see really good looking people performing so well you kind of forget they're good looking. (As opposed to *cough* Dwayne Cameron *cough*)
Favourite character: Amber. Loved her determination, drive and need to build something better for the group. She definitely had some serious low points in the latter series though (like the desperate need the writers felt to slap her with the Bray substitute and hurt her best friend at the same time, ugh ... don't even get me started on those developments, lol! It was just so unneeded but they just had to force the two together. But part of that blame does also come from the writers wanting to so desperately make up for the loss of Bray. I mean seriously, Jay jumped from Ebony to Trudy to Amber in what, a few weeks? It was like they were trying to replicate everything Bray had done in a short space of time to just say to the audience: "hey, it's ok, this guys is JUST as good, or bad, as Bray was ... so, don't worry ok, just forget about him". But meh, I'm rambling now. This kind of turned into a hate Jay discussion, lol.) Alice and Jack are close runner-ups.
Agreed on the Jay thing. They seemed to struggle with what to do with him, which made him very uninteresting to me.
My favourites are Lex (because of Caleb Ross, I'll admit that; the man is brilliant), May (when someone is supposed to be in 1 episode and ends up a regular, you know the character/actress is good; I really loved May being that shady survivor type), Pride (I’m a sucker for a jealous character. Man had his issues.) Ebony was a breath of fresh air, but I didn't always agree with her actress. I also really liked Lt. Luke, but his actor helped out with that a lot.
Most annoying character: This is a tough toss up between either Dee or Gel. I just really didn't like either of the two. No wait, add Ned on that list. Erm ... all three?
Hm. I guess I want to name the character that 'did nothing for me' - I think this, to me, is Chloe. She was always just... nice. If they'd written her dumber, she would have been a lot more interesting. With Patsy, they at least had the 'trying to be cool and suck up to Trudy' thing going on during the Guardian storyline.
Best written character: Trudy. Her story was a serious journey and is kinda at the heart of the show. Seeing the character fight through her depression and giving up on Bray, growing into the role of a mother and doing whatever she had to do to protect her daughter, finally seeing her blossom amongst the Gaians, then the remembered heartbreak when she finally finds someone to love - but it is taken away from her again. This slow burn development into a really great character ... that journey was definitely the best to watch over all 5 series.
I need to rewatch this entire thing. Best written... well, I love all the characters they gave depth. I think Salene had a realistic growth to her over the seasons. Ryan was the perfect sidekick to Lex. Bray's democratic save-the-world attitude was pretty nice - too bad the actor was pretty bad. I forgive him though.
Jack was well written but unfortunately his actor was too handsome. And of course there's the more shady characters: May, Lt. Luke, who else... the ones that weren't just instantly goody two-shoes.
I'm sure I'm forgetting half the characters I should put in here...
Worst written character: Unfortunately, this has to be Lex. As much as I 'loved to hate' him back in the early days, the latter series kinda didn't know what to do with him. He ended up too much as a caricature, and the whole nonsense of a gambling VR thing in series 5, throwing him with Siva and then some weirdness with the young Gel ... it was just such a degradation of his progress. It just felt that he was flat and didn't really evolve the last two series.
Hm, now I wish I'd paid more attention to season 4 and 5... not too sure what to put in here. I guess I was kind of disappointed with what they did with Amber in season 3 and onward. Putting her in charge of the Eco's was just lame. And the whole pregnancy thing was just meeehh. I wish they'd continue on what they started for s1. I think they kind of messed it up with her.
Best acted character: Trudy. Antonia Prebble was amazing to portray such a range as she did. Like I mentioned in the best written segment, she went through so much, and it was all acted beautifully every step of the way. It's not a surprise at all that she and Beth Allen (Amber) are now the most high profile of the actors from this show. They were awesome.
Ooh good category. Lex, May, Ram, Amber, Lt. Luke, Ellie (yes!), Ryan ... I also really liked Moz and wish they'd made her a regular.
Antonia Prebble was given a lot of stuff to handle, and I think she dealt with it fairly well. She’s not on my top list though.
Best moment: Oh God, so many to choose! Finding out that Bray and Zoot were brothers? The gooey moment where Cloe would not abandon her best friend and made the others realise that they were all in this together, despite the threat of another virus? The shocking moment that Bray saw Amber alive again? The Techno arrival (which we all originally thought was the return of adults)? ... I really can't decide.
I think for me, it's all of those small moments in s1 when they start building their society/ democracy. The votings and stuff.
Hottest male: Er, the guys on the show really didn't do anything for me, lol. At a push, Ryan. Loved his adorable dumb loveable-ness.
10 years ago I had a crush on Bray. Now it's Lex all the way. It's in his playfulness.
I also want to add in a hottest female, and that's May, hands down. That girl is so ridiculously hot I'd do her. Seriously.
(I'm sure I'd revise this list if I watched the show all over again.)
