Everyone who says it's dark brown is in denial.

Apparently this is all XComps fault. He translated something that was only released in Japan. He told two friends and they told two friends.....

I would feel rather silly asking him what the source material was just so we can get a clarification if someone said Tifa's hair was black or that it looked black or whatever.

Not that I don't trust his translations. It's just who can foresee stupid ass stuff like this going down eh?

Wouldn't using a fan translation be considered "original research"? I mean if people being able to use their eyes to see Tifa has brown hair is original research......

... The prologue book didn't come with the Japanese edition of AC. It was sold separately.

And several folks here have the Prologue book. Hito if no other. We can check the interview there and see if it said 'black hair'

If Nomura for lulz said Cloud's hair was black, and Zack's was blond, it seems wikipedia would literally believe it to be true and state that's the official color.

Ha, so I finally reawakened my Lifestream account (always thought I would for LTD reasons, actually). Anyway~ I'm the Wiki user WhiteArcticWolf, and all I can really say is that the creators must have changed it, like they often do with designs/storyline elements. Tifa has brown hair in the original and BC, and those were the two early works. In her AC profile she has black hair and she appears with black hair in CC as well (I even just checked it to make sure). Black hair does sometimes have a brown-ish coloring in the light, which accounts for why it looks dark brown sometimes.

Still, I don't get why they wanted to change it. Did they think she looked prettier or wanted to differentiate her from Aerith? Or is it one of those unexplained "Let's make it this way" things? Eh, if there's ever a remake, though, Tifa's hair will probably changed to coincide with AC/CC. For some reason I'm reminded of Rufus' orange juice colored hair that he had for FFVII, except for, like, one scene...Even though his concept art had him as a blond.

But Tifa's hair isn't black in AC! I know from my own hair, if her hair ever appears brown, it isn't black. If it were black, it would always look black regardless of the lighting.
