I just look around til I find things I think my giftee would like I actually like the 'one big thing' approach but it totally depends on what I find first I guess.

As a soft limit why don't we say between £5-£40 (or $6 to $50). I think spending about £25 was what I had in mind personally

I'd use this as a good guide.

Keep shipping in mind too - heavier shit might be more expensive (if you ship it yourself), especially if/when sending it abroad.

On the subject of shipping, if you're in the US and shipping something heavy, a lot of times the flat rate boxes from the USPS are the way to go. If you can fit it in the box, it ships for whatever the rate for that box is, regardless of weight.

I don't mind if whoever gets mine decides to open it early, but I'm saving it till the day - I have never opened a present before Christmas Day (and I don't get many anymore).

Also, I'm going to write the person's TLS name in between the first and last name to let them know it's a gift for them, just in case said person is buying a lot of gifts online and is getting packages in on a regular basis - might be an idea for others, too.

I'll probably open it, even if we said we wouldn't I totally would and then pretend to open it on Christmas because I'm a bastard like that.

Plus, if the thing I've bought gets broken I'd rather know about it sooner than later /paranoid.

Red's got a good idea about putting TLS name in the middle of first and last, especially if you're shipping directly from the place you're ordering from. I myself am ordering a shit ton of stuff for all the kids so if someone didn't ship it home and attach a note or prewrap, I personally might get confused about where it came from and forget it's my gift. xD

I was thinking about this last night and it's probably better just to write TLS in the middle instead, as some names just ought not be written down on a package, like "Flare" - of if you want to live dangerously and write "lithiumkatana"
