Toho started work on their 2016 Godzilla film today: http://www.scified.com/site/godzillamovies/godzilla-2016-begins-production-working-title-revealed

Not to be confused with the film that Gareth Edwards will be making after he finishes Rogue One, this is Japan getting back to making Godzilla films, so it'll be interesting to see the approach that they take, but I do believe that the person responsible for the Attack on Titan film's visuals is going to be involved. I'll post a link to that later when I dig it back up wherever I saw it.

I dunno, if they can digitize godzilla to the server of NERV and fight man to man with the virus, then he'd win. The others are just kaiju. (I don't remember which Angel was in sequence for the original series but I am going with Rebuild's numbering) I do want to see Godzilla fight the 10th Angel of You Can(Not) Pass, either Shin or Legendary Godzilla will do. UMMFFFF

He definitely looks like a terrifying mutant product of radiation. I think that this'll probably be the most horror-like Godzilla since GMK, and seems to be delivering on the quotes from the director, “Finally, the time has come. Playtime is over. Next year, I will deliver the greatest and worst nightmare to everyone.” Here's the teaser trailer:



I especially like that it's heavily standing apart from the American version's heroic monster Godzilla as much as possible.

I had no idea there's a new Godzilla in the works! I've never been big on the franchise but I've always like Godzilla's design because it's a giant mutant dragon lizard thing that came from the ocean (AKA Kaiju). What's not to love? :awesome: This new one (if those screenshots are real) definitely looks like some creepy mutant.

I actually quite liked the last movie that came out; is that the American one? I'll admit Godzilla came across as more of a beast that's not evil at all and seemed a bit heroic in a way. I also quite liked his design in the movie.

Because you guys know more about this than I do, could one of you tell me what Godzilla is supposed to be, as far as personality-wise? Is he supposed to be evil, good, or more like some mindless creature? Something else?

So, the Legendary Pictures Godzilla films are actually different, because there's another film that'll be coming out connected to that film coming out June 8, 2018.

This one's being done by Toho and is entirely new insofar as we know, and not connected to any of the previous Godzilla films, and it's going to be more terrifying.

Insofar as the character of Godzilla - he's been... everything you listed and more. The films all have their own perspectives and messages, and Godzilla plays a varying role across all of them from hero to villain.

Yeah, I liked the one tweet response to what X posted saying "Good. Godzilla's supposed to be scary not a good guy." ...Except for the movie's where he's the good guy. It all depends on whether there's a bigger monster around :P

Or what message they're telling, like in GMK where he is 100% the bad guy and the other monsters (even Ghidorah) are the heroes.

Man, Shin Godzilla looks REALLY cool. I'm not sure about the way that he's constantly holding his tail in the air like that, since it seems really unnatural for the amount of muscle effort that that'd require, but still – cool as fuck. I am 100% on board.
