do they use cgi for godzilla or is it old-school tokusatsu costumes? i'm guessing it's a mix but that roar at the beginning made me think of a guy in a suit

Insofar as I'm aware, it's primarily tokusatsu with CGI enhancements only to help with scale and detail & such.

i kind of like the tokusatsu look to it so i'm glad about that

also i've been listening to the trailer music for like an hour now

and i also like how this trailer basically has more footage of godzilla than the 2014 america film did in its final edit

Anyone know when this Godzilla film will be out?

I like Godzilla myself, and the first two Godzilla films I ever saw, which, I was a child who was at the age who shouldn't be watching monster films but did and enjoyed it, were the american edited version of the first film, "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" and "Godzilla Versus the Sea Monster".

Then there was the 1998 american remake of Godzilla, then there was...two others that I can't remember the name of, one made back in 1992 that is still broadcasted on SBS channel on TV once in a blue moon, and another a few years after that, and then the 2004 one "Godzilla: The Final Wars".

Seriously. I want a soundtrack to this immediately. Tokusatsu Godzilla will always hold a special place in my heart (even if I really love what they did with the latest American Godzilla's design).

Also, if you remember anything more specific about the other ones, I can probably help you figure out what they were. I own literally every Godzilla film, and also started watching them when I was little. Ah memories of renting any available Godzilla film on VHS and always wanting to see films they never had.

i am going to try to watch all the old films now. i used to watch them when they were shown on tv, which wasn't the complete series and wasn't often :sadpanda:

I'm really hoping that this gets a release outside of Japan like Godzilla 2000 did. I'll own it regardless, but I love seeing them in theaters.

Also, I am jealous how easy it is to get all the Godzilla films on BluRay in Japan. The American releases are a living hell to wait for and acquire.

I did not see this thread at all. I didn't know people besides myself and Nerv Agent knew about Eva or the new Godzilla movie.

This movie looks cool, but Anno it's going to be 4 years since 3.0 came out. Where is 3+1?!

The S.H. Monsterarts figure is goddamn TERRIFYING and fantastic. I love how insanely wide its jaw opens and how it looks like a radiation-cooked abomination.

Woooooaaaahhh, very cool. I think I'd like the whole design a lot better if the tail wasn't so crazy long, though. It just looks...impossible, which I know is a weird word to use when talking about ゴジラ, haha

I can definitely see Anno involvement though that trailer.

Maybe once this is finally released we'll get news on Eva 4.0.
