Agreed. It's a scientific fact that adding Optimus Prime to anything makes it more badass. Look at Beast Wars for example, it worked for Optimus Primal.

Truly epic. The best episodes in that series were the ones that drew from the original G1. Remember when Starscream appeared?

Also I've only seen a couple episodes of TFA, and it did take a LOT of getting used to, but as Arianna said it is actually rather cute, if anything for scenes like this:

As I said, the primary thing about the G1 cartoon was that it didn't delve into creationism and all that like the latter shows and the comic did. We had Alpha Trion and Vector Sigma, not a bunch of Primes and Primus, a god and the creator of the Transformers.

Now, with Vector Sigma, Alpha Trion and the Quintessons, we had some mystery as to just who everyone was, fully. That mystery goes away with introducing Primus. (And don't get me wrong, I'm a very spiritual person, it's just - old news when it comes to the Transformers, in my opinion.)

Of course, the introduction of the 'All Spark' and giving an explanation on how the Transformers reproduced was good. It cleared things up! Transformer sex was a - well, there were ideas. ... But see, the 'All Spark' of the G1 cartoon was Vector Sigma - he was the program/being that gave life to all the robots.

I heard that now Vector Sigma -> The Oracle (in Japanese) -> Primus.

Also I've only seen a couple episodes of TFA, and it did take a LOT of getting used to, but as Arianna said it is actually rather cute...

I forget the show I watched, but the big hunky green (?) guy (Autobot) is/was clumsy, and got called out for it. TFA is cute with some honest humor, and for that, it's bearable.

Yeah. There are a few awkward, facepalm moments, but like you said before the target audience is rather young. Lots of gung-ho happy "teamwork is key" type garbage but that's what most kids shows are really.

They make my teeth hurt they are so sweet.
I don't like what they did to Elita One though. Even though they made her like catwoman, I still wish they did better with her character.

Even though Elita-1 was only cast in one G1 episode, I liked her character back then. Changing her into BlackArachnia is an interesting move, personally. Still, how they portray her in this new TFA is as Ariel, not as Elita... I also like 'Aleeta' as the spelling, but oh well.

I just thought they did that hairstyle as homage to Ariel (Like combining Ariel and Elita as one). Her design was cool, I liked it. I just wish she had a resolution in the end, like her turning back into Elita or forgiving Optimus. If they are gonna end the series, at least let the people behind it fix the plot holes! That always gets on my nerves.

EDIT: LOL alright, decent review here and to start off, I didn't grow up with Transformers so I will say that first just to be honest (though I have heard of the G1 series and maybe saw bits of some episodes when I was really little). NO bash me cuz I ain't seen barely any of the original series alright? So I'm a newbie-fan BIG EFFIN DEAL GET OVER IT!!!

Anyway, lol, I seriously loved this movie as much as the first one and I really have to say, I really am becoming a HUGE Optimus Prime fan!!! I love how he's so caring, gentle, stubborn and compassionate to his friends and allies, but can also be fierce, incredibly strong-willed, determined and even brutal if he has to be. I find myself to think of him as a great role-model too ^^.

Now, I am aware that a bit of this defected away from the original G1 storyline but I liked the idea of Fallen. I also love how they designed him to look very much like an African/Meso-American tribesman too. It gives him this intimidating ageness, imho, considering he was a big villain. Also to note, the Music Score for RotF is just plain awesome (and Fallen's theme is just plain creepy as fuck O_O).

I heard people were goin nuts and debating over that "racist" bullshit on the twins too. Maybe they did overdo it a tad on the cursing and whatnot, but I felt it added character and personality and had NOTHING to do with racism whatsoever. I think some critics and whatnot just want something to nitpick at for some dumb reason, morons =_=. I liked the twins alot, really funny and kept me entertained a good bit, hell, even their silly antics helped out in the movie to some degree too . I laughed at the fact that one of them has a gold tooth LOL!

I gotta tell ya, as much as I like Starscream, he was just plain goddamn funny as fuck in the second movie LMAOz! He only seemed to get on Megatron's nerves the entire way through and just made an ass of himself so many damn times, even through gettin kicked around by Megatron too XD, but he still came through for him in the end. That only shows how much devotion he has to his boss.

I love what they did with Soundwave, being a satellite and all, imho, it seemed to give him more authority and control, per se. Was cool how he honed in right on Judy's cellphone hehe.

I think the movie had great plot tbh, especially when they needed Jetfire to explain things too. Was cool how they even went further into the history with the 13 Primes and all, which I really liked as well. Jetfire was just amazingly funny and his contribution to Optimus for his last battle was just purely EPIC as fuckin hell!

All in all, I really liked this movie and didn't really find anything wrong with it, though the only thing that bugged me was that they didn't put all of "New Divide" in the credits and I really love that song.

Last note, Wheelie was just incredibly cute, hilarious and actually reminded me of a somewhat mini-me of Starscream XD. 5 out of 5 stars WEEE!

I think for kids, they're trying to appeal to simplistic drawings, because they realized the raging success that was Pokemon...maybe. Which cartoons are you talking about in specifics? Fairly odd parents is kind of simple. Are they making any legit cartoons anymore? I mean, we grew up with TMNT, Transformers, Batman, etc. What do they have now, I've not been paying attention.

Spectacular Spiderman and Brave and the Bold are pretty good even though they're both very simplistic as far as art goes.

It's also cheaper and easier to animate the simplistic crap as opposed to a detailed artstyle.

Actually, Optimus Prime would never have acted like he did in the second movie, at least. He was never that vehement or firey of temper; cool, calm and controlled. He sometimes 'lost it' - but it was rare, and really never got much beyond strict and/or stern yelling. That's - one thing that I agree detracted from the original character... *shrug* But as you say, you're a newbie fan, and you have every right to your opinion. I just thought to mention it.

True, but never to the point of being careless and being disrespectful of the life he was fighting. He wouldn't have said, as a friend of mine pointed out, 'any last words?' He valued life, even if it was a life that was trying to destroy other lives. He wasn't thrilled with the war and battles he had to fight, but he fought them to protect what he valued.

EDIT: In other words, he never gloated that he had the upper hand on anyone, and that he was about to end the conflict by ending a life. He may have last words for them, but - it wasn't like what was portrayed in the live action movies.

I saw that video many-a-times, and I still stand with my position that Optimus knew what he had to do, but that doesn't mean he enjoyed it. He never said things like, 'give me your face!' (if I heard correctly in the movie), or 'any last words?' with an air of haughtiness. He was strong, and yeah sometimes his words could be considered mockery, but they always held truth within therm. As well, as that video does point out, if Optimus was ready to take 'any cost' to stop Megatron, he would have fired when Megatron got the upper hand over Hot Rod.

When the first images for the series showed up I'd have agreed with you, however the art style actually grew on me an I really like it now, so don't let it put you off since TFA is a great series with good writing and character develoment.

And I have to agree with what Arianna said. Optimus doesn't take any life for granted like that. I never thought about it that way before. Hmm...

Hope this doesn't ruin the movie for me now. XD

Of course I do have to admit that, in the past, I've always felt that at times Optimus, and I do mean his G1 self when I say this, could be a little too honorable and goody goody "We must respect life" like, you know?
