Did Cloud handle the "burial" appropriately?

I'm watching it again and Cloud just drops her in a body of water to be fish food?

Who would "bury" someone they love like that?

tbh, it was mostly there for artistic purposes, :monster:.

I'm pretty sure they tried to make it some new-age shit where her corpse floats down into the lifestream to be eaten by angry dead souls or something, :monster:

This scene is not the only one, I also found Shin Asuka from Gundam Seed Destiny buried Stellar in the lake. And of course, you must be know FF XIII-2 also has this scene. I dunno another fandom had this scene before FFVII.

Btw, corpse should float in the water, right?

I think that question was answered somewhere indepth recently on this forum, but I forgot the answer :awesome:.

The burial was kind of beautiful.

But I was disturbed when I realized that no one bothered to contact the mother. That kind of sucked for her.

Oh, right. How did I forget that.

Still, I always thought it should have been Cloud and company to tell them in person. I dunno, but I would think that telling a parent about their daughter would be an emotionally significant part.

Well, they were busy saving the world :P They went to visit her once it was all done. And she said "You all did what you could, there's no need for you to apologise." She understood.

Maybe burying your friends by letting them sink in water is normal in Japan?

Oh, Gundam Seed Destiny; the mention of this specific series always manages to tingle my trolol flags.

As for Aeris, water's good, water's good.

I voted that he had no choice, but I also do think it was appropriate.

Seriously, is there anyone in their right mind who is going to drag a dead person around if they are on a worldwide-spanning quest?

There really weren't that many alternatives. A body is nothing more than flesh and bone after death, and especially with the mythos of FFVII suggesting that the soul or spirit or whatever returns to the Lifestream, the least they could do was send her body along too. Better than being left in the ground in a forgotten city.

I mean you might even look at a bit skewed and say that were they not to "bury" her this way, she would never have fused with the Lifestream as she did, but I admit even that is stretching the imagination a tad.

Well...in my first playthrough, Tifa died at one point early on, and I didn't have any Phoenix Downs, so I had to drag her body around with me til I found a town and could buy some... :desucait: but no, I know what you're saying. I never really had a problem with the "burial", they had shit to do, like, you know, find and kill the person responsible for her death before he had a chance to kill them all.

By the way, what the fuck did Cloud do with Zacks' body?(Mei, if you say some thing necrophilia related I'm going to punch you in the feisu) We never see, but I doubt he'd just leave it there. Did he bury it? Or did he find a pool of water and let him sink like he did with Aerith? Or did he perhaps cremate him? Who knows?

I don't think Cloud was particularly "with it" at the time of Zack's death...I wouldn't be surprised if he just left it there while dragging himself away while he slowly regained use of his body.
