Did Cloud handle the "burial" appropriately?

Yeah, Zack didn't get a burial. Cloud was out of his mind, and he also had to run away fast, I'm assuming, because the Turks were coming.

Crisis Core, from what I remember of the ending stuff, shows Cloud as way more coherent than he would probably have been to just leave Zack's body there. It's one hell of a drug man.

Jenova Cells - Not even once.

Cloud was fucking crying. I don't think he'd cry about Zack and then just be like "Nope, fuck you, you don't get a burial." I'm sure he'd at least attempt it. And even if he didn't bury him, I'm sure Reno and Rude would have had the decency to do the honors when they found him(assuming they did).

Even if you think Cloud may have been coherent enough at the time of Zack's death, he most certainly did not have the time.

I voted no. I mean, if you're going to bury someone who kind of died because of you, at least do a good job about it.
Hmm, I would've hid the body somewhere here...

I've always wondered this: why didn't Cloud bury her body in that water, near the podium thingy she died on (where the white materia fell)? He carried her up all those glowy stairs and out to that little lake (where Kadaj stood with the kids and drank the water).

The water in the altar room didn't look terribly easy to get in and out of, I mean look how long it takes that materia to bounce down there. Plus, could be construed as a holy place that should not be profaned by making it all corpsey :awesome:

Hmm...

I always thought they dematerialized after they died like how they "disappear" after a battle and the way Kadaj just slowly faded away until he "returned" to the lifestream.

Which would make you wonder how Cloud was able to carry her body that far in order to give her that send off and also how they would eat meat as all the critters would disappear before they could butcher them as a foodsource.

I guess I have no answers.

That's a Compilation thing...and even then not a consistent one. I was fine with Kadaj doing it because he wasn't really corporeal to begin with, but I don't know why normal people would.

This. Only two people have faded away in that fashion that I recall. Kadaj, and Lazaard. Everyone else just rots like real world people do.

Like all the people who died in the Shinra building. Their bodes just lay there waiting for you to find them. And of course theres the graveyard in Gongogga, and also the graves Genesis put the villagers into at Banora.

Also also Grimoire, but that might be justified by unreliable bitch narrator Lucrecia and/or Chaos being involved.

Well, I meant Shalua was one who didn't dissolve. But yeah, Grimoire you could chalk up to narrative symbolism if you really wanted, I guess.

I take Grimoire's dissolution as literal, but the dude's body did get infected with stagnant Lifestream. It probably made his molecular bonds come apart.

For that matter, even the pure Lifestream is known to dissolve bodies. Sephiroth's body dissolved when Cloud threw him in five years before the original game, and it was only Sephiroth's extensive will power that allowed him to reassemble.

Good to know the souls of the dead have the properties of a very strong acid as well as being mutagenic :monster:

A lot of people are like-minded when it comes to this, even though we get the shot of Cloud carrying Aerith to the lake most of the resurrection rumors involved getting past the fish and re-entering said map.

I picture a hamburger dissolving in a blue flourish as a guy takes a bite, a forlorn look shadowing his hungry visage. Or a pig on a spittle fading away as the apple in its mouth falls in slow motion.

i wish those resurrection rumors had been true lol...also why did they put that blue fish there for anyway? i always wanted to go back down there and i cant see a reason why they should have blocked it off.

Also Aeriths burial was kinda meh...i wish they had not done it like that as i feel giving her a better grave would have been better, hell am sure the team would be able to take a few minutes of there time to dig her a small grave before setting off again.

Have you all seen GameTheorists explanation of this? Its hilarious and points out that Aerith may not have been dead when Cloud "buried" her.

Isn't the Forgotten Capital sort of aquatic in nature? I mean, if the terrain there is anything like the fish-tank atmosphere, burying her would mean shuffling a bunch of clam shells and sand over her body. Downstairs seems to be purely water and buildings.

I don't see many options unelss they were to backtrack to the sleeping forest or lug her corpse to an area of the Northern Crater that had adequate grave-digging soil. Even if they chose either of these options, they'd probably have to retreat all the way back to Bone Village to excavate a shovel.

I vote for "Handled Appropriately".
