I need to re-acquire more of Zappa's discography besides Hot Rats and Joe's Garage. Suggestions on what to download next, given my taste in the avant-garde?
Led Zeppelin - Kashmir
You'll want to check out most of the Mothers stuff. Especially One Size Fits All, We're Only In It For The Money, Absolutely Free and Uncle Meat. Grand Wazoo and Waka/Jawaka are essential of his Jazzrock albums.
Starters not too familiar with Zappa should obviously start with Sheik Yerbouti, Apostrophe (') and Over-Nite Sensation.
Also his live albums. Zappa live really is something else. You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore vol. 2, Roxy & Elsewhere, Zappa in New York and the first disc of The Best Band You've Never Heard In Your Life are easily some of the best live albums ever.
Disgorge - Cranial Impalement
