Deafheaven - Gifts for the Earth

This album sounds a lot like Nachtmystium, but a lot more low-key. First listen, doesn't particularly stand out yet (unlike their previous albums).

Haven't listened to the full album yet, but the first track is pummeling. I like that there are more sort of metal-isms in here. If I remember right there are some harmonized leads that are sort of Iron Maiden-y. I like that there's a broader pallet of sounds, but I remember also briefly listening to another single that I was not as fond of. I thought "Sunbather" was really cool, but a lot of the tracks just aren't as exciting as "Dream House" and "The Pecan Tree" and I wouldn't be surprised if that was a problem on this newest album.

I've given it just one listen, this album seems like a proper / full album though (first impression), not an EP with two songs with ambient / different songs around it. More consistent, in a way. Will need to listen moar though.
