33 years ago today, Metallica released their debut album, originally to be titled Metal Up Your Ass, but despite being on an independent label at the time, they were forced to retitle the album because retailers would refuse to stock an album with such a title. Then-bassist Cliff Burton went on a tirade over the title situation and was so pissed at the record distributors that he inadvertently titled the album permanently by saying, "Just fuckin' kill 'em all!" So there you have it; Kill 'em All really means "kill all the record companies!"
