I haven't gotten into the Winery Dogs material just yet, but any band with Mike Portnoy is a plus in my book. Here's my favorite Dream Theater song, Lie.

Speaking of Dream Theater, I can't wait until the John Petrucci signature Crybaby wah pedal comes out. I'm trading in my Dimebag Darrell Crybaby for it.

The Winery Dogs are outstanding. You should definitely check out both of their albums. It's a mix of blues based rock n roll and prog. Billy Sheehan's bass playing is amazing. Portnoy as always is superb on the drums. The real revelation for me though is Richie Kotzen. I wasn't familiar with him previous to The Winery Dogs. He's a very good guitarist and singer. I really want to see these guys live.

Regarding Dream Theater, they are one of my favorite bands. Just picked up their new album "The Astonishing". Haven't had a chance to listen to it yet. It's a double cd album and I want to try to listen to it all in one sitting. Terrific song you chose, by the way.

I'm starting to learn to play the guitar myself. I got Rock Smith 2014 for Christmas. I'm enjoying learning to play through it.

I learned about the Winery Dogs through Eddie Trunk (the host of That Metal Show who actually had a hand in getting that band together). All I knew about Richie Kotzen was that he had a brief stint in Poison and Mr Big. As a vocalist, I can't help but notice that he sounds like Chris Cornell. And he's probably the only guitarist I know of in rock who doesn't use a pick. I can't even play like that.

I absolutely love Eddie Trunk. I actually was turned on to The Winery Dogs through him as well. I listen to his podcast and I love(d) watching That Metal Show (RIP). I hope they are able to shop it some place else.

Kotzen does sound a great deal like Chris Cornell. In fact, there is a video of The Winery Dogs playing with Tom Morello at a benefit concert. They play Audioslave's "Cochise" and Kotzen pretty much nails it note for note. Inserted the video for your viewing pleasure:

One of my favorite 'dance' tunes. It hardly plays on the radio anymore though and I can't find it to buy it on iTunes. >_> The video above is 30 seconds longer and has the actual buildup, but the official music video for it (bottom vid) is pretty cool, showing the child horse racing in Indonesia.

Aah, this really did take me back to my DJ'ing days, when I was all up in the Drum'nBass, I used to live for it. Of all the possible songs I could possibly pick from as a 'if you like that then you'll like this' type-of thing, this is the one I went with - possibly my favorite DnB track of all time (and that's a bold statement), Uncut - Midnight (M.I.S.T. remix)

Anyway, recently I just can't seem to get enough of the funky one, Mr James Brown, get a load of this:

Instead of a YouTube video, I'm posting an album cover. I'm literally listening to this album for the first time in 14 years, because I either forgot or ignored how good it was...probably because when I was in high school, it was so popular that even boy band fangirls liked it (I am not bullshitting on this), and I thought it was embarrassing to like the same music as that particular crowd, which is probably why I got into even more aggressive bands.

A bit in the same way, in the last months I've rediscovered how good Satriani was, while I had stopped listening for years for no apparent reason. And he had made some awesome tracks in the meantime. I'll try to attend his next concert in the area (should be around April).

Satch was literally a guitar teacher to some of my favorite six-string gunslingers, such as Kirk Hammett, Alex Skolnick, and Steve Vai. That's I even got into his material in the first place. My favorite Satch songs are The Crush of Love and Summer Song.

Summer Song is a favorite of mine as well *brofist*
I had kind of lost track of him after he released Crystal Planet. It was great to find all what he had released since then. Really love the "Strange Beautiful Music" album.

Speaking of, Flying in a Blue Dream is one of my dad's favourite songs of all time (and I love it too), and I can't listen to it without feeling a little bit emotional:

In retrospect, a rather er, obscure track / album; most of their newer stuff was a lot more err, listenable.

Don't like the vocals tbf, but the music is valid.

Also for whoever was around 10ish years ago, Edman's user name was base off of these guys' band, :monster:

Ooohhh, Street Fighter music! Gotta post my favorite gaming BGM of all, Ken's theme. Here's the version from the Assassin's Fist film.
