Would you say its worth getting for those who have played a Link to the Past? Like is there enough new stuff in it. I just worry cos the walking on walls thing seems like it would make the game easier.

Ot: Fez. Loved it. It has its flaws though. Virtually impossible to get all cubes without consulting a guide, some of the puzzles are very obscure.

I found it to be a very clever game. The dungeons (of which there are many) were all fun to navigate, and the walking in walls doesn't make things easier, as the function was very well utilized and well planned for. It wasn't always obvious that the answer to a puzzle was to walk in the walls, or even where to go if you knew you should. The game was really well done. I definitely think it is worth it to play.

Finished it last night myself. It was fun and good. It was however a bit too easy in my estimation. I remember "Link to the Past", and even "Links Awakening" taking much longer the first time through. Still, it was fun, and I will likely replay it in a few months.

I can see how some might think it was easy, but that didn't stop me from dying several times, or from getting lost a few times in trying to figure out where to go next in a dungeon :monster: I think it had a pretty good balance going.

Last night I finished Tales of Xillia. As I said in another thread, it's the only Tales game I've ever played but I really really enjoyed it. The combat system was very fast and engaging and definitely involved strategy. I will say, though, that while it isn't complex, it's tough to remember all the "Linked Artes" you have available with with your current party setup and which artes you have equipped. It's fine when you only have one 4 person party. But once you have six characters and start to accumulate a ton of moves, it became hard to remember and I found myself just leaning on the few I was confident in.
The different take on the shop system was also interesting. You upgrade the shop either through investing cash or handing over supplies that make the lion's share of all the loot you find. This means you could grind the shop to carrying the best equipment very early on if you were so inclined. I was not and simply upgraded as I progressed through the story and seemed to do fine. Before the final dungeon I dumped all my supplies into them and got the best things I could afford.
The music is good and incredibly varied, but there isn't quite enough of it. I had tired of each area theme by the time we moved on to another.

I also really enjoyed the story, the writing is very sharp. While the game both looks and feels very "anime," there were numerous occasions where I was certain about what was going to happen next and it wasn't what happened at all. During the games' several "false endings," I knew something had to go wrong as it wasn't the end of the game and was set up to be annoyed by the cliched way the heroes were going to screw it up for themselves. While something did indeed go wrong so the game could continue, it was never what I was expecting and it was always a much more organic and less contrived event.
For a specific, not terribly spoilery example (I will still tag it though): an event involved Milla, the female lead, who is the incarnation of the "Lord of Spirits" and is on a critically important mission. When the party is captured fairly early in the game, the bad guys are trying to get the location of a device from her.
They threaten to kill the anime requisite ~10 year old girl party member if she does not tell them. Here I expect every protagonist, anime or otherwise, to capitulate. But she DOESN'T. Not only is she calling their bluff because doing so will rob them of their leverage, she straight up says her mission is for the sake of human- and spirit-kind and more important than any one person's life. Badass.

The characters are all very genre savvy, as jazzflower would say, repeatedly expressing concern that something was a trap mere moments after I thought we were dealing with another OBVIOUS trap that you must fall into to continue the plot. And the characters devise a plan to outfox the trappers. This went a long way to making me like the characters. Especially Milla and Jude, the main protagonists.
One other interesting thing about them, at the very beginning of the game, you choose which of those two you would like to be the main character. You can choose to control in combat and can program the party with AI as you see fit regardless, but dialogue differs, as well as cutscenes and entire dungeons when the two are separated by the plot. This is done very well, it doesn't feel like just a cheap gimmick to pad out the game by forcing you to play again. There are surprising twists I encountered as Milla that Jude was already aware of, and there were things I (as Milla) had seen that were a shock to Jude later. The story flows naturally either way, just differently.
One last thing on story and writing - the game got me to laugh out loud, which is always something I laud since the start of voice acted RPGs, as it's much harder to do. (Also, I think the English voice acting is perfectly fine, I especially like that the girls aren't screechy. But apparently I'm just more lenient on voice acting than everyone else, judging from my conversations around TLS.)

tl;dr, highly recommended.

I finished the first episode of The Walking Dead Season Two last night.

God, I was already upset from seeing Omid die from that stupid girl shooting him. And poor Clem. She really has grown up in those sixteen months in between then and now, but she's still that same little girl you all fell in love with. And with Omid's death, I'm going to assume Christa lost the baby at some point, too. In fact, lots of things could've happened, but that's what I think.

The episode had a feeling of being unable to let go of the past. I actually felt this way, too. I miss the likes of Lee, Kenny, etc. By no means, it's the best episode in the series, but it's a great one to come back to. I made the following choices:

a) Distracted the bandits to help Christa
b) I killed the dog
c) I accepted Nick's apology
d) I refused the begging man water
e) I went with Pete

Now to explain choices:

a) I distracted the bandits because I like Christa. She made a promise to Lee to look after Clem and I'm sure she'd do the same, too. I really want to know what happened to her because her fate is currently unknown.

b) Now this really killed me because I'm a dog lover. But then we all know nothing good happens to dogs in games, right? This made me DESPISE the developers. So I met the dog (his name is Sam, I didn't know at the time) and we got along great. But when it came to food, he attacked Clem when he was being denied it. She threw him off her after he left a big mark on her arm and he got impaled. I. CRIED. MY. EYES. OUT. I had to kill him because I could never leave a dog in suffering like that. :(

c) I know personally about tempers and such, so I felt Nick deserved the benefit of the doubt. He didn't seem like a bad guy and that was proved by Clem's talk with Pete on the hunt.

d) That man was one of the ones who attacked Christa! No fucking way was I was going to give him water if he didn't talk.

e) I reeeally realise my mistake here. Pete was the one I was closer to, so I decided to head off with him. But then I failed to realise until the last moment that he had a potential bite mark on his leg. So I should've gone with Nick. Think I'll play through it again and do the same.

Just finished Xenoblade Chronicles. Took a total of (well almost) 233 hours. I really enjoyed this game and have a lot to say about it, but nearly all of it would be spoilers. It was a great game, and worth the time it took to play it. I am honestly a little sad that it is over.

I got at least one 'final' ending in Papers, Please (where
your family, or in my case part thereof, makes a getaway before the Ministry of Information finds out you've been helping the terrorists[/url]). I think I've got... just over half of the 20 endings so far. Last one was where I got the 'Too Honest' achievement, :awesome:.

It's an interesting and entertaining game. Also because it was made by just one dude. I really hope he makes more games like this one.

I just finished Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix. It was an almighty struggle to finish the game with just the starting equipment, particularly the last few boss battles. Now I feel quite sad because the final scene between Sora and Kairi ALWAYS gets me.

Final Fantasy XII.

I reached level 75 and intended to finish every hunt, but in the end I got fed up of killing skeletons (I had my license boards all full, anyway) and went to kick Vayne's ass :awesome:

After having played almost every game from the franchise (except the online ones and XIII), this one is my favotire in terms of gameplay and combat system. It's quite convenient not having to spend time on a transition screen every time you are going to engage a critter, and not having to input commands so very often. It must be age, turning me into a lazy person, I think :P

Anyway, I agree that Vaan as a shoehorned character, storywise, but in game I found him very balanced and useful. Aside from that, I would play the shit out of any Balthier-centered game (or, did I do it already? :awesome: )

I'm going to miss this game, I know it.

Didn't wanna buy Crysis 3 because Crysis 2 was a steaming pile of shit. It was console-ised sequel of two games I absolutely LOVED playing on my PC. It was also a linear shooter without a final boss.

It was on sale on PSN a week ago for 5 bucks. I bought it for the hell of it.

Finished it recently and all I have to say is:

I accidentally finished the last story on the Wii last year. I have a penchant for leaving things unfinished. I never read the last few chapters of a book, never add the finishing touches to a painting, and never finish a game.

I've yet to finish: Star Ocean 4, FFXII, and FFXIII. I finished all of their predecessors, so I'm not sure what gives. I didn't find them to be outlandishly boring or anything. In fact, I really truly love FFXII but I've just...never taken the final few steps!

I accidentally finished the Last Story by walking into a 'lemme go talk to that character' trap. <_<
