I meant she's a girl in the music scene. I think the band's a fad and will pass with time. But who knows, could be Paramore-mania in a bit. I hope Paramore isn't the future of popular rock music. Now that the 00s are coming to a close, I hope that a new music scene will come in, blowing away Emo, British Indie, Grind-core, and the fragments of Nu Metal the fuck out.

One of these things is not like the others.

Lulz I've never really been a fan of Grind-Core. But I haven't been a fan of pretty much anything released 2000 on. Also, NWAHM never kicked off so I predict that'll die out too. One of my friends says Southern Rock is making a come back, but I doubt so. I'm really looking forward to a new sound completely coming to surface. I think that nothing truly spectacular and genre-pushing has come out since hte passing of Cobain. There were a lot of good bands, and even some great bands, but no AMAZING bands if you get what I'm saying.

I dunno what this has to do with disliking Grindcore because its been around since the 80s.

If by NWAHM you mean the New Wave of American Heavy Metal (Which is a mistag, theres only one NWAHM and that was 80's thrash, and nobody calls it by that name anymore) you mean metalcore, then I agree its nearly dead. (Thankfully)

I'd say there's been plenty of amazing, newerish bands, but I understand what you're trying to say.

There's plenty of interesting metal released since 1994, you just have to dig to find it. There's a fair bit of interesting prog and psych that's come out too.

And Crevaxa: I still call thrash thrash. Anything generally metal in the late 90s and afterward was labled NWAHM. And agreed that the magic by the Fab Four Met, Anthrax, Slayer, and Megadeth can never be recreated. However, Thrash never really... evolved properly. Thrash was an evolution of NWBHM. Death and Cannibal Corpse came along and were in a sense an evolution of thrash, but then they sort of got ripped off and the sound got incredibly diluded. I mean really grindcore today, its kind of merged with different musical styles that weren't originally attributed to it. All sub-genres of rock and metal today are shattered. They have been milked. It is time to move on. The 00s were a mess. A new style of music will certainly make its way through in the coming decade.

The only thing good we got out of 2000s is Barrack Obama, Borat, and Paris Hilton sex tapes.

This is rather common knowledge, IDK what you mean by "never evolved properly." I'd say it evolved just fine, and gave leeway into more extreme subgenres of metal.

A few things. Death Metal wasnt just instantly invented one day. Like you said it naturally evolved from Thrash Metal. Bands like Sepultura, SadEx, and Possessed began playing what I'd call proto-death metal. Which is pretty much Death/Thrash. Then one day Chuck heard Seven Churches and that's where he got the original Death sound from.

CC are important to Death Metal, but the genre was past its primordial ooze phase when they started, and were considered a pretty young band by their Florida counterparts when they recorded Eaten Back to Life.

And I wouldnt call the 00's a mess, I've been quite pleased with the progression of USBM and other metal scenes I cba to name at this moment because I'm having a brain fart of massive proportions due to lack of sleep.

Edit: Also Death and CC have nothing to do with Grindcore, except for the fact that two members of Repulsion were in Death for a short period of time.

After seeing like the fourth avatar of her on this Forum, and hearing high praise of her in general, I'm wondering why everyone likes her. I don't like Paramore that much... I think all of two songs, maybe three I find to be decent? And let's face it, there are a lot of bands WAY better than Paramore.

Is it because she's pretty? Has she done something influential in the world? Is it because of her morals?

Or maybe, and I certainly hope this isn't the reason, it's because she's the only female 'rock' singer out there that's popular? (Like Flyleaf was for awhile because of their screaming chick?)

Anyway, not meant to offend her fans, or fans of Paramore. I seriously want to know what's so hawt about Hayley.

Ahhh, who gives a shit? :awesome: Nah seriously. It's some short of fandom for someone they claim to 'like/love'. It doesn't seem too serious. And it's ridicilous that people colour their hair like her, while they say they LUFF Hayley. But is it such a big deal? Those are everywhere, look around you! :monster: Don't look at me because I'm such a rapid fangirl

I prefer brunettes anyway.

HUZZAH! :awesomonster:

95% of the best metal in existence has been released since 1994. That year in particular was a turning point for the genre, and it's been getting better ever since.

Granted, I still love the older stuff, but the whole point of genre evolution is to surpass your predecessors. Metal in particular has done that very well.

+1 to this. Classics like Priest and Sabbath will never be touched but Metal is very far from a dead genre.

I was saying grindcore was an evolution from death metal of sorts, combined with many other genres of course. It's just my personal taste in music really, I never was into grindcore. I was talking more in the veign of popular rock music anyway. Like you never saw Devil Wears Prada or Job for a Cowboy ever really go 10x platinum and get win a shit load of emmies if you get what I mean. All of the good music that came out of 2000 was underground and never really recieved any recognition whatsoever outside of said fanbases.

Ah I understand your point now.

But Grindcore is more of an evolution of Crust Punk than Death Metal.

Paramore is such the 14 year old little girl's "rock band" with a female front runner. There are loads out there that are better, Metric being my fav, and there's just nothing all that special about Paramore or Hayley Williams. Orange hair? You can dye your own orange hair and have it look better. :monster:

.... also emo band is emo.

This shouldn't come from me, but they probably aren't emo. That's why you got a sarcastic response. :awesome:

I'm pretty sure the majority of TLS that aren't so music savvy would be hard pressed to name even 5 actual emo bands tbh.

Joshua Martin had written after an interview with Williams, "The band isn't just a short pop-punk girl with red hair and a spunky attitude. Their music is like them, it's aged differently. It's sped up, and slowed down. It's emo without being whiney, or bratty. Almost a very literal anti-Avril Lavigne."

suck it.
