Given the protests at the expense of the world cup I can't help but think the ref was told to be bias and make sure Brazil won there opening match. Least that what it feels like. Maybe I'm just being paranoid.

Had the game ended 2-1 then yeah you could say Croatia was robbed but it ended 3-1 and Croatia never actually scored on their own. As good as Croatia played against Brasil if their sole goal in the game is an own goal from Brasil then they're not very likely to win that game regardless.

Think it's meant to be a definite visual marker of where the ball needs to be kicked from and how far back the wall need to stand. It's nifty, but it seems to take up more time. Mind you free kicks take up time anyway. S'pose it stops the guys in the wall from taking a schneaky step forward
