So yeah, I didn't see a thread like this yet, so if there is one, please let me know. If not, then here's where you can tell everyone about your favorite music from other video game's you've played or heard from. I love listening to game music, so guys, go all out! :D

My first pick, is the music from the PS3/PS4 game Journey. Austin Wintory has some beautiful scores that I just love listening too, particularly
Threshold: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFzBcIoFQQw
Apotheosis: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypNgvc6c6Cc
and The Road of Trials: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdG-e_Joc8Q

I'll probably get more songs from this game still. :awesome: Just haven't taken the time to do so yet. I don't know why I just don't buy the album at this point...

I like the Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire soundtracks, and the Kingdom Hearts(all of the games) soundtracks which are both on Youtube.

Bravely Default's soundtrack is good too, again, on Youtube.

Even though the song isn't on Youtube and is hard to find without the voices of the main characters, I love the English version of Passion(dubbed as Sanctuary).

My favorite FF soundtracks are FFVII Advent Children(a few from the Complete version as well, even though it's not a game but anyway), Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, FFVIII, Lightning Returns(despite it being such a bad game along with it's prequels), Final Fantasy Type-0(the PSP version more than the HD PS4 version) and Dissidia Final Fantasy/012.

Touhou, Xenoblade Chronicles, Okami, Shadow of the Colossus and Megaman. I like too many of the tracks to list. I mostly listen to game music when on my computer. They're made to set the tone and a lot of them don't have lyrics so I find them nice and less distracting when multitasking. I've also found a few nice remixes.

Oh dear lord you've opened the flood gates.

Before I begin, just assume I love any Super Mario Bros, Zelda and Sonic tracks.

NES
Pirates- Seriously underrated game with a good baroque score.

SNES
Donkey Kong Country - I keep hearing 2 is even better but I've never played it. Every track in this game is top notch.

Lawnmower Man - Another seriously underrated game with one of the creepiest main themes in all of vidya.

Illusion of Gaia- Great game that's not super well known, but I think enough people have heard of it/ played it. The score is top notch.

PSOne

Darkstone- Kind of a b-game, but it's dripping in PSOne and Western RPG nostalgia. Good score too of course.

Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete - This game is on a level all its own and its soundtrack even moreso. Every track in this remastering is incredible.

Ehrgeiz- Does this count? I mean technically people called it "the Final Fantasy fighter" before we got Dissidia. It was a good mix with an action-RPG, fighting game and some party games mixed all in one package. The soundtrack wasn't amazing, but it has a lot of nostalgia for me.

Star Ocean: The Second Story - Another RPG that's on its own level. It's a shame the later entries haven't been as well received but this one is just incredible with a great action system that make each fight a joy and a top tier item creation. I spent countless hours on this one and the score is a huge part of that.

Spyro: The Dragon - You can keep your Crash Bandicoot, this was my Playstation hero. Excellent soundtrack composed by Stewart Copeland, the drummer from The Police.

PS2

Dark Cloud- This world building (or I guess world-restoring) RPG was another one that's on the cusp between well known and under appreciated. Phenomenal soundtrack though.

Dynasty Warriors 3 - This game is so damned cathartic. Nothing beats slaughtering literally hundreds of foes with minimal effort while listening to some intense music.

Soul Calibur II - While it's by no means the definitive version it is the version I had growing up. The score is almost as legendary as the game series itself.

Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex - I know I dissed him earlier, but I really loved his PS2 / Xbox entry. The music is all over the map from comedic to chilling to kick ass. Here's one that's a combination.

I'm gonna stop here because trust me this could go on for a while and I haven't even scratched the surface or touched any of the newer systems. I will end with a personal note:

Decay - This XBLA game series is one of the creepiest games I have ever played and the ambient horror soundtrack is phenomenal.

PS1 titles such as Spyro, MediEvil and Rayman II (and a few pieces from the first game too) really have well-crafted music that absorb you into the levels.

And that awesome Tekken and Twisted Metal music just makes me wanna punch a guy and throw missiles at cars.

For later titles, Kingdom Hearts and Ni no Kuni are soundtracks I frequent on my iPod.

I love Okami's music as well; used to have several songs on my laptop before it broke (now I need to get them from my cousin). The music for that game fits it perfectly, making you really feel like you're in a mythical Japanese land. It's has epic songs, beautiful scores, creepy tunes, and playful arrangements.
Love them so much. <3

^I haven't played a lot of Castlevania games... except Castlevania III for the SNES. :awesome: I love that music!

^I wholeheartedly recommend picking up Castlevania: Symphony of the Night on the Playstation Network/XBox Live. It's a masterpiece, hammy 90's voice acting and all. But the soundtrack is a particular highlight.

One thing the Legacy of Kain series isn't known for is it's soundtrack, it's generally more atmospheric than inclined to draw attention to itself, but that one track... God I love that series.

Philistine, Noi More Heroes

This boss has a song in place of a backstory, and it works!

Stranger I Remain, Metal Gear Rising

Whatever you thought of it, this was a series with great bossfights and appropriately chosen music.

Metal Gear Solid 2 theme (speaks for itself)

Seconded Donkey Kong Country.

Resident Evil Tracks are generally quality work, but more built towards mood.

I was just about to say "Symphony of the Night". Honestly, that soundtrack could make me weep, it's so beautiful. And the game (bar the atrocious, but still awesomely-bad, voice-acting) is amazing.

Oh, and Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross have pretty amazing soundtracks, too. And, as mentioned, Okami's rawks.

Oh, and Skyrim. That one song is just stupidly good!

Chrono Trigger and Cross, Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3, Super Metroid, F-Zero, Zelda series, Star Ocean series. That's a fair kickoff selection, anyway. I'll post videos of some choice tracks when I can be arsed.

<Look at My Avatar.... it's a Guilty Gear reference, that should be a clue.

Aside from that, I am on a huge Vanillaware binge, so Dragon's Crown and Odin Sphere are big with me.

Also Valkyrie Profile series.

Oh yeah and why not... Chaos Legion.

Parasite Eve stands out to me in a lot of ways for mixing cool Jazz with being creepy as hell at the same time. I know I've got some more, but I'll try to think of them since none spring to mind off the top of my head.

ParasiteEve/Kingdom Hearts is a given, by the same brilliant composer. The Chrono Series has my favorite music bar none, I still consider Chrono Cross to have the best ost, from my very naive, uneducated view.

I was also a fan of Nier's, Journey, Flower, Bastion,Papo&yo, I dunno I feel like it's easier to do indie games because they are shorter and their usage is more concise. A lot of time I don't realize a soundtrack is actually really good until I go back and listen to it outside of the game.

And then there's Silent Hill, where the ost is best in game and out of game it can be good but loses it's real spark. Still really legitimate way for a soundtrack though.

Too many to list, even filtering on non-FF NES/Famicom games from 1987. (Seriously, google that shit - Maniac Mansion, Shadowgate, Metroid, Faxanadu, Metal Gear, Rygar, Punch-Out!!, Tecmo Bowl, 1943, Contra, Mega Man, Wizards and Warriors, SMB2, Zelda II, Castlevania II...)

My all-time favorites (Chrono/Seiken Densetsu/Elder Scrolls series) were already mentioned, so I'll just recommend the OFF soundtrack. Soft Breeze, Pepper Steak (strangely a great battle theme), Clockwork, The Meaning of His Tears, Stay In Your Coma, Unreasonable Behavior, Hip2-2, etc.

I've just finished playing through Super Mario 3D World on the Wii U with my friend - I have to say, I really enjoyed the soundtrack. While RPGs are the main source of good video-game music for me, as well as really atmospheric games like MediEvil, this really stood out for me, especially as I didn't expect it from a Mario game (I haven't played the likes of Super Mario Galaxy, which I heard is supposed to have really good music)
