Meyer tried to be original, but ended up ripping up the race of vampires.
Meyer tried to be original, but ended up creating a race of glittery Mary-Sue pussies and just added "lulz, they're vampires" to disguise it. She basically threw out everything that made vampires and replaced it with the contents of her wet dreams.

I wouldn't think less of anyone for liking it (maybe a little less :awesome: ), but I would have to ask, "really? Really?"

I don't really care if my friends like it or not, everyone is allowed to like one shitty thing I guess though I do wonder why they like it, my younger sister loves Twilight but she's a Jacob fan and that's fine by me since he's absolutely hawt, I do have a problem with her making me take her and her friends somewhere and her friends are talking the whole way about Twilight especially Edward and Bella <_<

Meyer tried to be original, but ended up ripping up the race of vampires. Despite being fantasy creatures, there are still rules to be observed when dealing with them, and basic things that you can’t oversee, especially when folklore regarding vampires has been around during thousands of years. If she considered vampires something disgusting to deal with, she could have come up with creatures of her own creation, named by her. You cannot take any hot guy, hang around his neck a sign of “Vampire”, and make him have attributes that contradict his condition. That’s the reason why people who like vampire books mock her.
In my opinion, I liked Pattinson more when he was Cedric Diggory :monster:

I mainly meant the fact that she tried to be more original, which turned out to be a big PHAIL with many consumers and critics XD. Honestly, I wasn't too happy about the sparkly bit either, but i still love the story as a romance. Just clarifying my point.

I was having lunch with my mom a week ago and she was telling me how this one movie made her cry. So I go, "Speaking of crying, do you know what movie made me cry? New Moon!" She looks at me and says, "Why?" To which I respond, "'Cause it was so horrible, I wanted to rip my eyes out!" Pretty much everyone around us fell dead silent. I'm quite sure I offended some people. It was almost like I'd said something taboo; I was waiting to get hit over the head with the pepper shaker.

I try not to think less of people for being sexist, racist, general retards etc. Liking Twilight is hardly something I'd judge someone negatively over. It's just a book.

what gets me is that her depiction of vamps are as many says pussies and mary-sues that glitters! GLITTERS! God damn it they're supposed to burn up and die! And to be romantic means a simple bite to the neck! And werewolves CAN wear shirts you know, not stay out shirtless for a long long time.

She made really bad excuses for the werewolves to have to go shirtless all the time - temperature problems :awesome:

I have no idea why the vampires sparkle instead of burn :shifty:

I wish she kept the vampires just like Dracula :(

I let my cousin use my laptop and when she was done I found a TON of pictures saved to my harddrive, all of this fucking mook. I didn't like that, not only because I had to spend my time deleting all that stuff off my comp, but also because I just could not believe it -- my smart, sensible cousin likes Twilight?!

I also feel mildly betrayed because we have both been rather diehard fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel for years, and she says Twilight is the best take on vampires she's seen yet. Wtf?

So yes, I do think less of someone, at least a little bit, when I find out they like Twilight. It just grates on me. IMO, those books are nothing more than a waste of trees.

No, I wouldn't think less of someone for liking Twilight... I mean, it's not the Anita Blake series, so it can't be that bad. I think less of Meyer for writing it, though. Same with Rowling writing the Harry Potter books and claiming they couldn't be fantasy cos she didn't like fantasy. :awesome:

Holy crap, I echo the "wtf". After seeing the first film, I thought that Whedon could have made it fit in a single Buffy episode as a subplot.

....did you know that the reason Smeyer made her vampires the way they are is because she's afraid of NORMAL ones?
I lol'd preeeetty hard at that one.

Also my friend retains the firm and unyielding belief that good ol' Stephenie's a Mormon, hence the ridiculous take on love.

Didn't know that. Huh.

As for my answer, I don't think less of 'em but I should probably start over exaggerating this fact, because a few of my friends apparently USED to like it but all stopped... conveniently around the time I mentioned I didn't like Twilight. And they really stress that they don't like it.
Tho' one of these friends still has the poster up in her room.

So I dunno. XD I have honest respect for people who bother with it and can provide plausible reasons (RE: "I did it for the lulz",) but when the Twitards go and get rabid froth all over your new, actually-good book, then I get annoyed. >_>

I'm not friends with the kind of people who would like Twilight.

When I see a stranger or acquaintance with the book, I do in fact think less of them. To be entertained by something like Twilight requires a certain level of idiocy.

Someone at work saw me holding Eragon and asked if I enjoyed it. I said I did. They asked if I read Harry Potter. I told him I loved Harry Potter. He asked if I had read or was going to read Twilight. I wanted to vomit, and told him "God no...I've heard it sucks."

When I say "heard," I actually mean that I've seen a few excerpts of the writing and wanted to tear my eyes out, but I didn't feel like getting into that with him.

I've also seen the movie, and there appears to be absolutely no redeeming quality to any of it except that it panders to the lonely (teenage) female mind's desire for a "perfect" man. It's mental masturbation. And Edward is not even my cup of tea.

All kinds of people like Twilight and a good many don't devolve into gibbering fanbrats though :/

Actually the only part of that post that wasn't truly ridiculous was the last paragraph.

I mean seriously? You have arrogance to think less of somebody's intelligence because they're a fan of a book that you haven't even read? And you don't see the irony in that at all?

No need to jump down her throat. I think she just meant that the kinds of friends she have don't have the taste to even like Twilight. :monster:

And while judging a book by its cover isn't always wise, you don't need to eat a turd to know that it probably tastes bad. :wacky:

Trying something before judging it is always best, but there are just some things you can make an assessment of without trying it.

I agree that it takes a certain level of "idiocy" to like/love Twilight. But some of the people I love - like my parents and best friends - think it takes a certain level of "idiocy" to love gaming, anime, and manga. I'd have missed out on some very good relationships if those people thought me too idiotic to bother with.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's very subjective... Others don't understand our passions, but we don't feel like we're any less sensible or decent because we enjoy those things. It doesn't usually detract from us as humans. I'm not talking about the people who run around assaulting others for disliking Twilight, but it would be kind of sad to dimiss everyone who likes it as unworthy of being friends with... :monster:

Eragon was shit. But on the other hand, at least it was written by an immature teenager who can't write at all.

I riked Harry Potter because it appealed to my secret desire to be special in a world where I cannot blow people up by wishing it. :awesome:

I don't think less of the people I know and am friends with in terms of them being people, but rather, their tastes. To each their own, I suppose. If you wanna like shitty literature and equally shitty movies, that's your deal.

This is true.

I have a friend who's obsessed with Twilight, and it gets annoying after a while. All she talks about is how hot Edward is. Even though it's stupid, because she thinks she's going to marry him or something gay like that. I deal with it, and she's still my best friend, but, I don't like her interests.

Actually, about half of my school is obsessed with Twilight.
