You should though. The end is very sad, but so well built. I don't think you'll regret it.

And actually, the reason why my Zack in Crisis Core has such a high level is that I didn't want him to die just yet. You can use it as a motivation too. XD. My case for example, I didn't want the game to end, so I try to complete all the missions and check out every chest out there and all that. Plus, since you know that he'll die in the end, it'll make you not get tired of his character and the game.

I was in denial till the very end, it's so easy to like Zack, SE portrayed him great in CC and his death, though very sad, is very fitting.

Yes. I very much agree. Even in the original FVII I was drawn to his character, but the game just gave him more justice. In the start of Crisis Core, I thought I wouldn't be affected much by his death anymore...since, you know, everyone knows he dies, but I found myself weeping, and I was touched in the end.

But then the DMWS thing started happening, Cloud's reaction was really well portrayed and Zack's words to him... It was a beautiful ending, I think it's the best I've ever seen. And it made a really nice touch Angeal showing up.

I did the same thing XD I was doing everything just to avoid the ending. Even repeating the already done missions. And Crisis Core is the only one game which made me cry in the end. But now I am playing it again XD

I actually haven't finished all of the missions yet in CC. I've only ever played on hard mode and instead of prolonging the story to level up and do them all I just finished so that I wouldn't have to worry so much about spoilers. I started again and am well on my way to finishing all of the missions but I lost my power cord for my PSP so I haven't been able to play in a while. :/

I had similar problem - my cat chewed the power cord. Spent a few months without PSP till I decided to try my photo camera power cord- it worked O_o

Actually, Zack lives on in my PSP. I made a second save file in Aerith's church just before Zack leaves to Nibelheim. In that save, he'll never leave and he'll be with Aerith forever. Or at least until my PSP breaks/memory stick dies.

Also, funny thing - I never beat Crisis Core in English because I didn't want to see Zack die again. Which means that in my main save file he'll be alone in a cave forever, except when he ocasionally does random missions. Well, at least he's not dead.

I think Zack's voice actor was good, but I just love Zack's japanese voice actor. I think it's because when I first time I heard Zack's voice, it was in AC japanese version. And I usually prefer original voices than dub XD

But seriously, Zack is a very good character. It was surprising how many fans he got through his brief appearance in the original game (me included), and the successful game Crisis Core has lifted his fame to nearly overshadow all others.

It is interesting how Square basically chose to not only ascend Zack into the Lifestream (rather than just having him dissolve) but also be the hero archetype, right next to the "protector archetype" that is Aerith.
I know, it is only because of Aerith's presence that he is conscious in the lifestream. But he still has the image of being an ascended being.

And that is what Zack was in physical life; greater than life.

Edit: In my mind I just compared Zack with Uncle Ben for some reason...
