Anyway, congratulations to Donald Trump. We can only hope his promised progression of America smoothly runs it's course.

The DNC fucking played themselves. And all that schadenfreude the Democrats were enjoying came to (predictably) bite them in the ass. It's really beyond comprehension how purposely encouraging the ultra-right to rally around a synergistic figurehead (as if all this vileness hadn't been fomenting for 8+ years and beyond) was considered a viable and good strategy.
Like we didn't all know proto-fascism and white supremacy are the sleeping giants within America's constituency. I mean, give me a break. The same thing is happening all over the West. This is stupid and all, but not surprising.

Come on, dude, that's not fair. Yeah this isn't the outcome most of us were hoping for, but it's no reason to be rude to someone who supported him.
Yeah they were so sure Hillary was their ticket to win... but it wasn't. I wonder how they feel about not electing Bernie now who was SURE to win. (At least that's what the polls indicated at the time, I can't say for how well he would have done against him in the actual election)

Playing devil's advocate here, but how do you know that Jaacob is a Trump Supporter? He could be just as upset as the rest of us that Trump won the election, but instead of getting angry about it, he's just being polite? Taking the high road and all that.
I'm just basing this off of his other posts, which isn't a lot.

Lord knows I have overcome some backwards-ass opinions, but it doesn't mean I wasn't a scum when I held those opinions. I don't know jacobmiller well enough to know his politics, but even a polite wish that Trump's "promised progression of America" does anything except disappear is a statement of assent for bigoted, war-mongering hate fuckery that is going to actively ruin everyone's fun for the next four years.
Hopefully in that time the people who didn't vote "on principle" (who would have surely made the difference) smarten the fuck up, and that those who EVEN POLITELY allow for a groping, lying, bullying, witless, over-sensitive, over-aggressive pig of a human being speak for them when meeting with the other world leaders see the DREADFUL error of their ways.

Judging by the correspondences, it was less that and more the desire to maintain the Democratic establishment. What they actually believed was their ticket to victory was the production of a reactionary, hyper-right Republican nominee, which simply makes all of it even more tone deaf and farcical. Compound this with a gutted VRA and millions of disenfranchised felons (most of whom were caught up in the Clintons' drug and crime policy), and it's all rather rife with irony.
Can't say whether or not anything would have been different for Sanders all other things held constant (and frankly, I didn't like him too much either), but I'd bet it wouldn't. Hopefully this is the wakeup call needed to organise a viable antifa alternative to right-wing austerity, nationalism, etc etc. It's probably not realistic™, but one can dream.
ETA: Hennyway, we got until January to organise a fight network. Who tryna throw elbows with me, because from now on it's about to be hands on sight.

The Democratic Part overshot itself, big time. I honestly don't think Bernie would have won either (he wouldn't have survived the 'socialist' angle, and a lot of Americans don't give a shit about democratic socialism either).
Donald Trump was an anomaly that almost everyone failed to counter. I don't think that the world's gonna end, but we took a big L today. Hopefully this will make a lot of people wake up.

Good morning Mog, glad to see you're still with us. I had to avoid puking during my night shift and got to watch the whole sad shit play out live. It went from watching history to watching a hysterectomy - not just a verbal pun. We've literally taken away America's ability to create anything meaningful for at least 4 years.

Would he have outperformed Hillary? Maybe. If he had the full backing of the DNC then maybe, yeah.
Would he have ABSOLUTELY DEFINITELY beat Trump because of some ancient ass polls? By that logic alone, fuck no. I love Bernie, I do. But he was/is an untested, unscathed politician running on a message that just a few decades ago was the considered the ideology of our sworn existential enemy.
Maybe Bernie WOULD have beat Trump. Some of his ideals are certainly things we should take forward. But as a whole we can't boil our loss down to "well bernie would have beat him time to die" because shit ain't gonna get done that way. We need to stop looking at the ground and take a hard ideological look at not only why we lost, but why we lost so many votes to Trump.
Trump himself isn't even that great a candidate. Obama would have annihilated him. Biden could have given up a run for his money. So what's the deal? Where did Hillary fail?
Yeah shit was rough. I feel pretty shitty, but I'd hold off on the hyperbole for now; we all still have to get up and go to work. I have zero faith in our government, but the country is still collectively comprised of the people. I have no intention of giving up and dying nor yielding my potential to the state.

I honestly think many people just don't trust her. She was under FBI investigation since day 1. And I mean she was that fricken Secretary of State getting her emails hacked by people who don't even live in this country exposing secrets that should not have been exposed.
That really puts the country at risk and I can completely understand why someone wouldn't want to vote for her based on that alone.
and when the day is all said and done, she didn't even address her supporters. Yes, I KNOW she was shocked, as many of us were, but she could have at least given them the time of day for coming out to see her.
