While I'm largely of the same mindset, when looking back on playing the
Remake demo, I am reminded that I really liked being able to spend all that time familiarizing myself with the particulars of the combat system and other game mechanics. I expect that with the addition of the new combat mechanics and other upgrades and changes that
Rebirth has, being able to de-rust while learning the ropes like that again be really nice, as then diving into the full game will be exceptionally smooth.
That's more on my mind as I ended up poking around in
Elden Ring a bit the other day for the first time in a while, and despite having something like... 1500 hours in that game, it's always weird when there're certain parts of your muscle memory that just come back instantly whereas others are ones that you have to work to get back to that same level of proficiency with a bit of practice. (Like for some reason I'd completely forgotten how to two-hand wield a weapon & use the item shortcuts, and literally just had to look it up. Once I did it became natural again really quickly but it still took a bit before I felt like I was around at the same level as I'd been when I last played it).
Demo or no demo, it's still ridiculous how close it is to release and it'll be interesting to see what the
Rebirth-centric State of Play has in store.
