Trace of Two Pasts novel discussion

I feel it adequately sets up either eventuality, but I lean towards us never hearing about them again. Not because I think Shin-Ra has ever been particularly efficient at covering its tracks*, but because part of the premise for Cloud and Tifa's relation to one another is that they're each all...

SPOILERS LTD Remake — It's like New Coke except ... no, it's exactly like New Coke

Unless they've adopted Yuffie and Red XIII, my guess is no. Shelke may be slightly older than Yuffie even (they're both 19 in Dirge, apparently).

SPOILERS LTD Remake — It's like New Coke except ... no, it's exactly like New Coke

I realize this topic is a couple of weeks old now, but I've just gotten caught up. --- Sorry, this take is just really bizarre to me. Tifa is identified as still only 23 in Dirge, which is well under even the odd threshold you placed on childbearing years -- and there's always a lot going on...

Trace of Two Pasts novel discussion

That's sort of like the "You're sure messed up, Cloud!" line she had in the original game. Perhaps because this shit ain't that important and most people know it. :monster: This "Republicans vs. Democrats Simulator" stuff is ... well, not quite as bad as the actual Republicans vs. Democrats...

@Ultimasamune Thanks for all you've been doing.

    [Spoilers] Material Ultimania Plus discussion

Initially I thought you were suggesting that the whole dream was Jenova pretending to be Aerith, so I said that there's no reason for Jenova to be saying those things. Then I also added that the dream really being Aerith doesn't mean that Cloud isn't unknowingly referring to Jenova when they...

Right, and I replied about that. Lol

    Sephiroth, Genesis and Angeal

It was precisely the opposite. She didn't want Angeal to have anything to do with Shin-Ra or SOLDIER, and refused to give him permission to even take classes from Shin-Ra -- but he followed his friend in despite all this when the time came. We know how it goes from there. But the accumulated...

    [Spoilers] Material Ultimania Plus discussion

It is, and that is Aerith. No reason for Jenova to be saying any of those things to Cloud anyway. That's not to say he doesn't still feel himself being called there by Jenova/Sephiroth. He should be.

Religion and deities in the setting (split from "Trace of Two Pasts novel discussion")

Apparently that was only used for the four Archfiends in FFIV, but not the original FF's 4 Chaoses or FFIX's shrine guardians. That said, the other group of 4 could have been intended as a reference to Fujiwara's demons.

Hopes for Remake & Rebirth (gameplay/combat)

Somebody on VII's world thought that was a great idea too. Next thing everyone knew, they were watching Omega sail away to the stars with the Lifestream. Many have. That's why on the eighth day, God created your mom. :monster:

    [Spoilers] Material Ultimania Plus discussion

The use of "bioplasma" in that Omega Report labeled "Impurities" is probably a good example of potentially losing clarity for the sake of trying to make things sound "properly sci-fi." That was 命の欠片 ("splinters of life force"), which would probably be less confusing for some players. (Here's...

Religion and deities in the setting (split from "Trace of Two Pasts novel discussion")

@Makoeyes987 What specifically are you suggesting prompts the creation of these materia? Whose memories and/or spirit energy?
  16. The Twilight Mexican

Religion and deities in the setting (split from "Trace of Two Pasts novel discussion")

I'm really not convinced that this is the case. There's no reason to suspect the original Bahamut's precise bundle of spirit energy has been wholesale reinserted into a new dragon body to live out multiple lives. Meanwhile, there's plenty of reason (i.e. FFIX's explanation on summon variations...

Religion and deities in the setting (split from "Trace of Two Pasts novel discussion")

That's a wildly different take from mine, which basically just follows FFIX's explanation on different versions of summons: different traditions make for different collective memories, which then crystallize into different summon materia.
