    Final Fantasy XVI

The combat looks exactly like XV. With 'phantom / demon' claws instead of multiple swords. And there's the sword-wielding generic character. And the story doesn't sound interesting at all. Not impressed from first viewing.

    Playstation 5

And there is is. PS console exclusive.
  3. Claymore

    Final Fantasy XVI

As much as I would enjoy replacing their bog standard sword-wielding main hero with something different, it would ultimately be hollow. Even with dialogue tree options or the option for different weapon sets (highly unlikely) you are just diluting the potential and narrative force of the story...

    Final Fantasy XVI

    Thank you. This right here.

    Final Fantasy XVI

    OMG this so much.

    Final Fantasy XVI

Like I said, it's a continuing symptom of a bigger problem within the franchise and the genre. I want to be wowed and excited by the spectacle of a FF game, and that means forgoing all the similarities and tropes and doing something really special and unique. Don't take this literally. I'm not...

    Final Fantasy XVI

Yeah, I'm just tired of it. And I'm not just talking about FF here, I'm including the fantasy genre as a whole. If it's a fantasy setting, 85% of the time (I'm pulling that number out of my ass but you get the point) the main character has a sword. In a book. In a TV series. In a game. And it...

    Final Fantasy XVI

Which is exactly why another sword-wielder will preclude, to me, that nothing is going to change. It is going to be the exact same story repackaged differently. To me personally, that is an immediate red flag.
  9. Claymore

    Final Fantasy XVI

It's a symptom of a much larger problem with the inability to shake up the formula and do something interesting and exciting.
  10. Claymore

    Final Fantasy XVI

Hard disagree. The setting has a massive impact on the style and types of stories that are told within that world. Then I'm out. If it's another generic as hell protagonist with a sword, then I'm done with FF if that's the only formula they will work with.

    Final Fantasy XVI

I'm personally against a stock medieval fantasy setting simply because I don't believe that SE won't fall into comfortable tropes with warring Kingdoms, a sword-wielding hero, and some demon pulling the strings behind the scenes. I feel like any other setting might push them to do something at...

    Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout

I wish I had picked this up, but I didn't realise that it was only free for a limited time. Looks a lot of fun, but I can't see myself dropping £15 for it.

    Marvel's Avengers (Square Enix/Crystal Dynamics/Eidos Montreal)

I Am Iron Man Absolutely loving the campaign btw.

    Black Panther

Not even hyperbole. This has actually hit me quite hard. This is so devastating. The fact that he continued to do what he is passionate about whilst struggling with his illness just shows the type of character that he is. He kept it quiet, he kept it personal to him and his family, and he...

The Last of Us Part II is Zionist Propaganda

Speaking of songs, Ellie's cover of Take On Me on the guitar popped up on my YT feed and I had to stop listening to it as I got choked up. Such is the emotional resonance I felt from this game.

The Last of Us Part II is Zionist Propaganda

Finally finished the game. Been playing it in bursts with the housemate who really wanted to watch my playthrough of it since we played the original together. An incredible game through and through. I didnt think it would be possible to make a second game that had the potential to stay with me...
