That would be a pretty interesting twist. But what would the rationale for Ardyn accepting that as a compromise? If his intention was just to end the line of Lucis, he could surely have just killed Regis to accomplish that?

There was that rumor that they were gonna have a special event in April. The wording in this investors briefing does seem to fit that rumor. It also fits the fact that they do like to build things up a lot before release. June->December would be very short hype period for Squenix.

KH3 was originally intended to be a 2018 game, and was finished months ago. They did delay it just to avoid the highly competitive christmas schedule. That might mean their '1 big game a year' thing allows FF7 this year. Probably not, but who knows.
