I don't remember which trailer it was in, but we can play a pull-up minigame with Tifa, just like we can play the squats one with Cloud. Also, she traveled by... hand? in the same trailer. It wouldn't surprise me if we take over all Tifa, Barret and Aerith alone at some point in the game.

^ Bingo. In my experience, this happens as a response to a universal negative reaction from the audience (or at least from a large portion of it. Or, a very vocal one) on a specific changed plotpoint. With the Remake coming out soon and knowing the FFVII... the gaming fandom, I expect this...

I guess they gave you a whole lot more to do with AVALANCHE, since this was the only time they could give you that before they die; once you meet Aerith, the story gets streamlined a lot.
