Look back in the original game. The whole "Sorry I'm late"/"It's all right" schtick between Cloud and Tifa follows the dialogue they shared at the Nibelheim reactor about him showing up to save her just like he'd promised.

OWD, you just listed out most of the things that tick me off with the rabid Cleriths arguing for their pairing -- their insatiable need to denigrate every character, including Aerith.

I also hoped for more Tifa in the Bahamut fight, but it seemed like everyone took a step back once Cloud arrived.
