I remember specifically comparing the TGS trailer for Peace Walker to other MGS trailers involving the English voices, and I found the TGS trailer much more serious and emotionally dramatic than the trailers with the English voices. Not to say one was more epic than the other, its just that the Japanese and English casts are two different bags of tricks.

HAVE YOU NEVER SEEN UTENA BEFORE? IS THAT WHY YOU'RE DOWNLOADING IT? IT'S AMAZING. The art is so gorgeous, and just the feel of the show makes you really get lost in it. Reading it was okay, imo. =P

On the note of video game dubs, Dissidia's English cast really disappointed me. It seems the problem lay in directing more than the actors but that doesn't change the fact the results still largely sucked.

I mean, I know Cloud's VA can be decent at least but Dissidia turned the Wangst up to 11. "I won't sleep well tonight".

And why did they have Bash's VA do Gabranth? I mean, Basch was okay in XII but he sucked horribly in Dissidia.
Gabranth had the better voice anyway. >>

I actually disliked all the English VAs for the main pilots.

Spike Spencer. Oh God.

The fact they got them (or at least Spencer) back for the Rebuild dub makes me not want to see it dubbed.

Oh yeah I'm revisiting Silent Hill 4 and it reminded me that Mary-Elizabeth McGlynn is awesome. She does Nuriko's voice in the FY dub.
Most will know her for her role in Ghost in the Shell: SAC but I know her as the beautiful singer of many lovely tracks from the SH games.
And she was perfect as Nuriko.

Hence my problem with the Samurai Champloo dub, despite it being pretty well-done not to mention the extremely awkward way English voice actors pronounce the Japanese names/words (Inu-Yasha being a prime example).

I've been putting off for a long time it's been on my to-watch list for years.


Evangelion dub: I actually can tolerate this dub to an extent because I think most of the main's voices really suited them. Doesn't make up for the terrible acting/direction tho.

Utena is meh, the art style will only appeal to you if you like deformed nigras with giant generic animu eyeballs and whatnot. Then again I was never a fan of soap opera shit.

The color palette and backgrounds are the best part of it.

Well, that's definitely true for DBZ Abridged at least. Their Mr. Pop is perfection.
Also they gave Freeza a respectable voice. Not that Linda Young isn't a good voice-actress. She just doesn't fit Freeza.

Also Lanipator's YYH abridged is so awesome because he can do an amazing impersonation of Sabat's Kuwabara and Cook's Yusuke.
